Need some advice. Getting my 2021 LR PRO tinted tomorrow. Going with ceramic all the way around but haven’t chosen the darkness. On my previous Tundra I put 20 on the fronts and rear wind screen but I’m thinking of going darker. Let me see what y’all got.

I too went with ceramic. 35% on the fronts (as not to attract attention) / 15% overall on the rears. In hindsight I should've dropped the back rear window down to 10% or 5%. If your eyeballs were fine at night with 20% on the fronts and you didn't get hassled about it then that's the darkest I'd go on the fronts personally. My eyeballs work best with 35% at night on the fronts.

I have ceramic 20 on front and 20% on top of the factory in back, so it’s darker.

I went with the same formula. I am thinking of doing the windshield. It is interesting....from the inside looking out....it looks clear as day, but looking in from the outside shows the tint darkness.

Either way, I am super happy with the ceramic over the old school paper.

I went 5% rear, 20% front, 70% windshield (Might wish I would have gone 50% later, but its still gonna block heat) and added a 20% AS1 line brow, to the windshield just for appearances against the windshield being tinted. I'll add a pic later.

Zero issues at night. I work shift work, so I'm constantly driving before sunrise.

Had to postpone my appointment since we are getting absolutely hammered with a 3-day snow storm in the northeast.

so...I get to stress about it for another 2 weeks.

is the factory tint really 20%? I had mine matched to rear but was always thought 29% or around there, since that's the legal limit in Ontario, haven't had any issues.

No idea, I don't do tint. The guy I bring my vehicles to said the "general standard for privacy glass is 20%: +/- 5%" and I take his word where he's been doing it for 20 years. That and the rears match the fronts exactly and he put 20% on so.. science.
The legal limit in Maine is 35% I believe? I've had 20% on my last four vehicles with no issues regarding inspections or cops. My uncle is a retired Maine State Trooper and said they generally don't give a shit about your tint around here but it gives them an excuse to pull you over if they're suspicious or need a reason to. Nobody cares unless you drive like a dickhead.

Ha, remind me when I was 20, I had a VW GTi with limo tint all around, it was lowered and loud, you can imagine how many times I got pulled over.

You need to speed fast enough to get it suspended, it was a 2.0L , it was glacially slow with 3 subs in the back, lost a stoplight race to a minivan once with my friends in the car.

LMAO Every time you went racing you were praying for a strong tailwind, eh?

I lost a race to a shitbox 90s Oldsmobile in my 1990 Camaro with a 305. That was embarrassing.

I went 5% ceramic all around, 40% on the windshield. The truck looks amazing. I was skeptical about the windshield at first, but hardly notice it now even at night. That being said, it's dark!!

Anybody in this thread from Texas? I feel like every shop I talk to won't do the windshield. They'll do a cermaic 100% tint for heat, but no light blocking

I am REALLY considering the windshield, but my hesitation is what percentage?

I'm also considering something for my windshield. For whatever reason I feel like I am in a sauna when the sun shines on the front of the truck.

East Houston, here. I used Texas Tint Masters, since they offered XPEL, and promptly replied to questions, etc. They did 70% for me, but were willing to do as low as 40%. They acknowledged it was not street legal, etc. All the liability expectations. I went with it largely for heat rejection, but also a slight tint, and I could have gone 50% and been happy. I added the brow just to be incognito a bit, against the rest. There are other shops around houston that do windshields, too. I was originally going to drive out to New Braunfels, to hit up CenTex Tint. They do a lot of high end work, and he was going to discount for driving out, but ended up being nearly the same price as local, and I feel like the XPEL XR Plus was a better product.

I'll snap some pics from outside and inside the truck tomorrow to show you what it looks like with the 40% tint on the windshield. I too added the 5% sun strip as well to help distract from the rest of the windshield. So far, no issues! Just gotta make sure you have a shop that'll look the other way when hitting pass on inspections ;) Again, with the 40% tint, during the daytime, no different visibly than that of no tint really. At night, it's hardly noticable, or maybe I'm just used to it.....the side windows are a different story at nighttime, had to get used to rolling them down to back into the driveway every now and again, especially if it's snowing!!! Gotta add some better led lights in reverse to light up the driveway!!!
