Do I need a leveling kit?

Hi new to the Tundra Family. I just bought this 2015 Tundra SR5 4x4 blue monster and was wondering if I should put a leveling kit on it?

If so, how high would it have to be to match the back? Trying to figure out how to upload a photo so you all can see. Any thoughts?

If you are wondering if you should level your truck, then don't.

It's not necessary for you to level your truck. If you level it, you do have to do something to rear end since your truck will squat with a moderate load. Steering rack going out seems to be more common with lifted/leveled trucks. You mpg will go down, even without any change of tires/wheels. People level their trucks primarily because they like to upsize their tires and secondarily (I think) they like the look. But if none of these matters to you, leave it stock. Toyota did an excellent job in streamlining their vehicles.

Haven't heard much if ANY on steering racks going out on 3" and under. I may be wrong.

BUT racks have gone out on stock tundras too. It's not just leveled tundras.

 

Well said ... and agreed upon. Unless your planning on changing your wheels and tires, I'd do what Chphilo said.

If you just want to spice it up a bit without going crazy, may I suggest some 1.25" spacers to push the wheels out. It will make a huge difference in how your Tundra will look.

 

I thought I was the only one on this forum that likes the look of the stock stance better than leveled.

Figure what your style and needs are first, and then plan your mods accordingly. Do a lot of night driving? Headlights first. Use your truck as a storage shed? consider a cover. Like to off road? start with the suspension. you get the idea.

Leveling out is a good option if you are looking for a more aggressive stance or wanting to put larger tires under your truck.

What is the truck used for? is it for looks or is it being used heavier for towing or wheeling at?

 

Just for looks. I hate how it looks like it nose dives in the front.

 

In that case, I would say that you are not wondering about the leveling kit, haha.

Avoid spacer leveling kit. About 2 inches will make most Tundras level, it seems. Bilstein 5100 is a good option and also budget friendly. The sky is the limit on how much more you want to spend on suspension.

 

I went with 5100's, probably the least expensive way while still accomplishing the goal and improving the ride. I had mine set to the mid setting, leaving a little rake in. Rake is in their for a reason, just like sports cars - so I went with a happy medium of leaving a little while lifting at the same time.

A lot depends on use. If you're going to be towing anything that has some weight, I would leave it alone. If not - do whatever is visually appealing and meets your performance needs. If I wasn't cheap - I would have gone with the Toytec Boss - that's an awesome kit.

I think a 2" would be perfect to level out the looks. Bilsteins seem to be the ticket.

 

@Fly’n Family what side tires are you using?

 

So I assume that adjustable shocks would be better than spaces up front for leveling? I’m thinking about doing the same thing and I already have bigger tires on mine.

I have Yokohama Geolander 275/65/18’s

 

I'm new to this but isn't that size stock?

 

I have 285/55/20, i want to go taller especially after i get the Bilsteins in the front 2.5”

 

Stock on mine was 275/55/18, and I mistyped I have 275/70/18’s plus my wheel offset is +1
