Alright guys, I’ve been thinking about this for the last few days and trying to make a decision on the route I’m going to take with my truck. I’ve got Pro Fox suspension I will be installing and the factory 20’s are still on the truck. I already have TRD Pro 18 inch rims to go on the truck, but I will have to go with a LT tire in 275/70/18. With the 275/60/20 there are plenty of SL rated AT tires. Looking for ride quality. I know 18’s will get me more sidewall but is it a wash due to the load rating differences? Which setup do y’all think would look best, ride best, or be better all around. Any info/experiences are appreciated!

I switched my stock Michelin SL rated AT tires 275/65/18 to BFG KO2 E load range same size and ride got a little firmer, but nothing terribly bad. Been very happy with them. Don't know about the 20" though

I have the same TRD Fox suspension and went from 20s down to Pro 18s with 295/70 Toyo AT3 E rated tires. Yes, it is a better ride than the 275/75-20 BFG KO2 E I had on previously. But I would have went D range if I could.

On my last truck, Nissan Frontier crew cab, I went from E to D tires, and the difference was great.

Awesome feedback guys! I really appreciate it. Sounds like the 18s are worth it because I’ll have more flexibility with sizing than with the 20s. If you bump up size any more than 275/60/20 they move to mostly E range anyway. @ZPhilip hows the ride compared to stock? I think we will have nearly identical setups but I won’t be going quite as large on tire size as I need the power for towing and still want to fit the garage.

Hi Kevin. I have the TRD Pro suspension same as you. I also went down from 20" wheels to the TRD OD 18" wheels and have both front and rear TRD sway bars. I installed 295/70 R18 Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT tires and have been very pleased so far with the ride as it feels much better than stock. These tires are lighter than most at 59 Lbs. I'm considering changing my 1" shackle to the CB +2 as I've read that these will improve ride as well. Here's how mine looks today:

Awesome man! Thanks for the input! Was it tough fitting those with the Pro Fox suspension? What shackles are you running now? I’ve been thinking I may go with the Coopers XLTs or possibly Goodyear Ultraterrains. This will be a departure of what I’m familiar with which is normally KO2s.

The Pro suspension isn't any problem for fit with the tires or wheels. There was about 3/8" to 1/2" between the side tire wall and UCA. I didn't think this was a problem but I planned to add wheel spacers anyhow and installed 1.25" KSPs. Due to dirtying the side of my truck, I wanted to go with BORA 0.75" spacers but see that the rear studs will protrude, so I will be changing to BORA 1" spacers (OK, 0.25" may not help much). Eventually, I'll probably change my shackles to CB +2 (if I can still fit my 295/70 R18 spare?), but for now I bought and installed the following 1" shackles: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Maxtrac-Su...g-Shackle-Kit-Fits-07-16-Tundra/164612118157?
Like you, I'm used to KO2s but have to say I'm pleased with the Coopers so far. They run quiet as well. If you go up to 295/70 R18 tires, you will likely have a little rubbing on the front splash well and mud flaps. However, it's easily fixed with a heat gun and small dead blow hammer. This Pic might give you a better idea about how the tires look:

18s ride slightly better ride than stock. Not the night and day difference I was hoping for.
The Fox also are a little better than the Bilstein 6112 I had on there before.

When the original Michelin tires were ready to go, I went with 275 70 18’s and have been very pleased.
Got Cooper Discoverer tires from Discount.
