Your truck will be the 59 I showed. That's from the FSM for our years, not the newer ones.

That's awesome! Did you do any sanding or pre work on it yourself? I'm definitely going to get it color matched.

That looks pretty dang good! That will be my plan B if local shops in my area give me a nasty quote.

Also, what are you guys putting between the lip of the shell and the bed side? I can already see that it's scratching my paint where it touches.

They did it all. Caps are easy according to them. No real hard prep or anything

Guys. :( Uh oh. Pls help.

Inspecting the engine wiring harness I found that one of the stater harnesses got mangled by my engine-pulling buddies. Anyone know where to find a replacement I can solder/crimp in? Maybe a scrapyard. It's weird because the disconnected bit is a different color, almost like it doesn't go in there. I'm also not sure where the extra wire goes.

Here is its position in the loom.

There’s a part number on the connecotr, a Toyota dealer can get a new connector and the pigtail for the 2 broken wires. Unpinning those is easy so you should have to only repair the 2wires only

Changed the glove box light today. Tricky fkr. Wouldn’t turn on, thought there was an electrical problem. Took the entire glove box section out then learned it only turns on when the headlight switch is on.

Made my buddy hold his new FJ80 snorkel up to the Tundra before he mounted. Makes ya think... Not 100% sold, will have to see how Front bumper design goes and whether it looks snorkel-appropriate.

When someone installs a snorkel do they usually waterproof any of the engine electrical too? Generally....

Eh. The stock intakes high enough in my opinion... if your going up to snorkel level water, you need to really work on making the electrical system water tight

The bonus is that I have dealt in Marine electronics for 15 years and have done a stupid amount of wiring in countless watercraft so definitely am not opposed to doing a lot of this. My Tacoma has a lot of the wiring redone since I relocated both batteries to rear and all.

Things to ponder for sure. Especially because im gonna move the battery/install dual batteries before too long anyway.

Rumor has it if your Tundra is black it gets through water faster than water can get into the engine bay.

I thought I heard 80 series too and thats why i held his up. It looked right but would definitely do a better test fit before ordering one ahould I decide to go for it.

Edit: research shows guy did fit a 100 series however if I go by buddies again ill see moreso how the exact fit of the 80 is for giggles.

Pulling the axles yourself and bringing them to a machine shop will definitely be cheaper than leaving the truck at a mechanic and having them do all of the work. Getting the axles out of the truck is the easiest part of this job without a doubt. Not counting parts, I paid $90 per side and I feel like this was a good value because I spent my time doing more important things than pressing bearings which I do not do regularly. The machine shop does this job regularly and knows how to do it right.

Now if the mechanic got you two brand new OEM Toyota axle shafts, that over a grand figure isn't too bad.

I hope it whispers or screams when you accelerate! That made me laugh!
I’m still thinking pre tire bedside dump for my exhaust, these might be a contender for any Karen’s that are walking they/his/hers teacup service animal.

My Taco is dumped in front of the rear tire and I love it. Only issue I had was heat from muffler was a bit under the rear floor. Little fiberglass heat mat underneath fixed this though and probably isnt so much an issue if you have an interior for some insulation.

I’ll be going thru the bed side, no regerts..... i have sliders and don’t want to sacrifice that clearance for exhaust.
Was it a lot louder with the dump before the tire?

I like that look. My bedsides on taco quick disconnect so I dont have to worry about mashing my glass when out using it or I would have done this.

Certainly louder than it was dumped further back but nothing in that truck is quiet so doesn't bother me too much. Im running a Flowmaster Super 44 which is fairly loud as well.
