I enjoy the show but would refuse to participate (if asked). Too often, the contest is about strength or stamina instead of skills and techniques. Plus the pressure of the time constraints don’t interest me.
At 65, I have had a vertebrae removed, a knee replacement, rotator cuff repair, and many other difficulties. Am very content to work at the pace that suits me.

plus: I have nothing to prove to anyone

It's coming. . .I have a style I'd like to have in mind. I've gotten a price from another guy that my son had make me a chefs knife. . .it was in a previous post. . He does great work also but I'd like to support members here as well. . .I'll have to round up a pic of something similar to what I want and see what you think.

You begin with good steel! This one was a combination of 3 steels; 1080, 15n20, & w2.

So I just completed this little bitty blade for a friends EDC. I was directed to avoid anything flashy and not do my usual file work. It’s sort of a “sleeper”, though. The blade has a dual dystal taper; from the ricaso to the point and from the ricaso to the handle butt. The Damascus is a 3 steel combination of 1080, 15n20, and W2. 8B5BDB76-3BBD-4E0C-BCFD-7AD8F779CC17.jpg7C8E4EF9-E656-41CD-B6BF-19F1E3AF9D6F.jpg B3C70E86-ABAD-462A-B335-3D939D922535.jpg
the handle is black walnut. Blade is 2”, overall, the knife is 5 1/2” long.

Not a fan of the blue, but I love that blade. Really like how high that clip sits...should be nice and low in the pocket. Might have to try one of those...

Another work of art my friend. What do you do for a sheath?

It is a Nitecore P12 I bought 4 years ago.

Nitecore P12 1000 Lumen LED Tactical EDC Flashlight (nitecorestore.com)

Flashlight technology has come a long was since then.
I'm sure there are better options.

Most of my EDC flashlights now are Olights.
I have an Olight Seeker 2 Pro I keep on my home office desk.

Amazon.com: Olight Seeker 2 Pro 3200 Lumens L-Dock Charging Powerful Rechargeable Side-switch Tactical Flashlight, with 21700 Battery and SKYBEN Battery Case: Home Improvement

And an OLIGHT Warrior Mini I carry at work every day.

OLIGHT Warrior Mini 1500 Lumens USB Magnetic Rechargeable Variable-output Dual Switch LED Flashlight with 3500mAh 18650 Battery for Camping, Outdoor, Emergency, Everyday Flashlights (Black) - - Amazon.com

I really like the magnetic charging..

Olight M2R Pro Warrior would be my choice if I had to buy one for that console need now..

I’m a big Olight fan. I have a S2R Baton II and I just ordered a Perun Mini last night. I’m hoping it will make a decent headlamp. Flashlights are like Gremlins in my house, they just keep popping up everywhere.

I just looked up the P12 and see it uses a 21700 battery. You must get some great runtime with it.

Lots of nice knives and flashlights. So many BM's it's not funny. Here's my modest collection.

Finally got my whetstone, belt sander, a bunch of belts, and my leather strop in. Tracking down some old files to try my hand at knife making. Got my work knife all fixed up after using it for 6 years and chipping much of the edge and point off. Had to do some reshaping but turned out fine.

I'm so glad we were able to put this together. I've been socking pennies away for awhile, then for Christmas my grandma gave me enough money to finally pull the trigger. She taught me much of what I know about cooking so wanted to help out with my knife. After looking at many knife makers and seeing Ray's knives here, I figured he would be the best to get in contact with.

I'm super happy with how it turned out. Ray kept in constant touch and worked with me to make the design happen. I had found another knife with a similar blade shape and wanted the influence of a Spartan sword. The way the pattern on the blade turned out is as if it knew it was coming to me and took on a pattern that reminds me of the mountains on a topo map.
