Hello Everyone, kinda new guy here. So I caught wind that one of my relatives has a 1st gen tundra AC with a blown motor. Well I just happen to have a 100 series land cruiser sitting on my property with a check engine light complaining about the tranny. So my question is are the motors a straight swap or do I need to make/fab engine mounts, wiring harness, ect.

If its the 4.7 I would guess that the long block might work but the harness and most attached parts would might need to be swapped from the Tundra motor. Just a guess.

@empty_lord any experience with the LC100?

Jap made motor vs American built. But “should” transfer over assuming they’re both vvti or non vvti

The real question is why you don't rebuild the tranny on the land cruiser and have an awesome land cruiser?

    Here is the correct process:
    1. fix land cruiser's transmission
    2. buy Tundra and drop in a different engine
    3. fix up Tundra
Now you have a badass LC and a Tundra.

The next question is how one manages to blow up a 4.7L. That's not an easy feat.

I know, everyone told me the same thing. The land cruiser was a salvage title when i picked it up and was in a front end collision prior. I did the repairs and made it roadworthy but after getting it stuck in the mud on my property (I live on a farm) for a little over 6 months decided I actually wanted a truck and the 4.7L V8 is pretty solid so tundra is the way to go so I picked up a 06 tundra DC. Dont get me wrong, the LC is an awesome car. In the end I just realized I'de rather have truck instead. But any way, I just found out my cousins truck isnt a 4x4 so I dont think Im going to pick it up.

Fix up the 2WD AC then do a solid axle swap up front, ultimate project Tundra.

Is the LC100 solid axle? If so you might be able to work with that.

I don't think you will find a diy guide but if you search "sas tundra" on Google you will find info. A few guys on a different forum had done it but most of them are far from the first gen and driving something else now.

    No its not, independent.

Yeah thats what I kinda figured, oh well. Just gonna concentrate on my 06 DC I guess.

Good idea. Focus on what you have and optimize it. I’ve seen many people suffer from self induced ADD and never finish anything. Divide by two and focus on 1.
