I’d expect all these samples to be good since their trucks aren’t very old. I thought they said they wanted the cooler for longevity. Ask them to send samples once their truck hits the 100k or more and compare that to ones without a cooler.

Hard to ask some to send a 100k sample when they are far and few to be found. We would have to plan for the future at this point.

On that note, if they hit 100k without an ATF change - they would not be following the maintenance card...so longevity could be viewed a moot point...

You are also assuming they dont accumulate mileage.

Regardless, IMHO, the more samples (regardless of miles) the better idea we will all get. The heavy use 55k sample I sent in came back fine. I'd expect similar results from samples pulled both sooner and later.

Never hurts to have a large sample rate, as long as details on use are provided.

Not disagreeing with a large sample sizes, but I’d be surprised if any of these are out of the ordinary. Maybe it’d calm some people down, like the guy in the other thread who said his WS fluid was spent cause he hit 230.

Nope. Cooler might not be needed, but I tow regularly and would rather the peace of mind for the longevity of the truck.

The only thing that’s certain is a cooler surely can’t hurt anything......so I rather be cautious and never have to worry about it again . I got 210,000 miles out of my 2010 tundra and never had to replace anything but tires, wipers and brakes. I just traded it in this year and am hoping to replicate that reliability with the 2020. So rather than worry about the missing cooler and weather or not it will effect my transmission 50,000, 100,000, or 200,000 miles down the road I decided to give myself peace of mind for 800 dollars. Think about it.....after spending 50 G’s on a truck $800 is a spit in the bucket to end anyone’s mental debate lol

I don't know about that...several posts have mentioned techs asking how are you going to deal with the moisture buildup...you are altering design parameters to where the fluid will remain below boiling point of water. For me that would be a concern.

My 2018’s transmission doesn’t get over 212F. I’m not really concerned.

There have been transmission designs over the years and brands that don't reach those temps. Also with the Tundra transmission being sealed, I fail to see where the moisture buildup comes from, or how it would dissipate. Although I'm not an expert on such maters.

The transmission is vented to allow for expansion of fluid and air. It it wasn't it would push oil from the seals.

    Simple pic.

Yes if I would have thought this through before posting, I would have realized venting would be necessary.

I can’t agree more!! I came out of a 2018 F150 that was the biggest mistake I ever made. My wife has a 2013 Venza with 115k, nothing but tires, brakes and oil/filter changes. I plan on having my Tundra for 200k. Was it disappointing finding out it didn’t have the tranny cooler anymore, of course. But for $800, it’s worth it not to have to sit in a Ford service waiting area any longer only to leave pissed off.

How does the rain water evaporate from the street. The street doesn't get 212F. Oil temperature doesn't get 212F how does water evaporate. Why do we have clouds?

It’s only been a week and a half, but I’m much more comfortable with the temperatures I’m seeing after installing this… I don’t see how it can be anything but a good thing, I’ll keep the channel updated of course!

Yep. But I don’t believe either failed because the fluid was below the boiling point of water.

Transmission kit uses thermostat (Toyota designed) that prevents circulation until trans temp is about 190F. That addresses any moisture concerns.
