    It's a big IF.

This is the door sill area of the front driver side?

They are going to say it's you, a rock in your shoe etc. That area scratches very easily and is usually user caused. Once you drive away, scratches on that area or in common areas are caused by the owner. Same as if you had a mystery scratch near the fuel door or near door handles.

I made DIY door sill protectors for mine after they were scratched, by me and the kids getting in and out. It's why they sell door sill protectors and offer them as an upgrade when you are signing the papers.

Gotcha. I still think they are going to fight you on it, that's what dealers do

I didn't notice mine didn't have them either, my paperwork signing was a diaster and I ended up with a $500 dealer credit because of how bad it was was handled (getting a TRD rear sway bar next visit).

Once you get it resolved, either way, get some door sill protectors and mount them yourself. I'm sure the Amazon ones for your make and model will be fine, but they do have OEM ones too. I ended up with color matched skateboard tape and made some, based on another members thread. They have helped immensely and cost me pennies.

These are show no signs of wear after a year.

If you are just honest and up front with the dealer, you will most likely be able to work something out.
It's the passenger side, so at least you don't have to look at it every time you get in the truck. When I picked up my truck, I looked over everything with the service manager right then and there. I noticed few "marks" on my bed, and my exhaust (TRD dual) was not level. I simply looked at him and asked, "would you accept this if it was yours"? He kinda smiled, got on the phone and had it taken care of right then and there. The marks buffed out, and they leveled the exhaust while me and the manager watched and had a nice conversation about the idiots who scream at the dealership for everything, and just blame, blame, blame. He said it's amazing when someone like myself, who is disappointed with something but still has the human decency to talk about it and resolve it with a conversation, not a finger-pointing barrage of blame. I'm just saying that I could have blown up and yelled but instead took a very civil path that got me agreeable results. Talk to the service manager without blaming them, and discuss how it can resolved. Tell them how much you love your truck but was shocked to find these marks. You'll probably find they will be happy to take care of it. Have some options ready to go that will help them help you. ...like you would be willing to buy sill protectors at cost to show that you are looking for a solution, not a confrontation. Goes a long way down the road for future service too.

I went to purchase my new truck and right after signing I found a dent and scratching. They insisted it would be fixed but I was skeptical. When they delivered it, guess what...still a dent and scratching there although less noticeable. I told them that they would need to pay to fix it as I'm located 3 hours from them even though they wanted me to "bring it in" so they could attempt another repair. They agreed to pay but only wanted to pay the shop. I told them I wanted the money in my account and I'll decide when, where or if I even get it fixed. They continued to argue like they didn't want to rectify a mistake that they made. It wasn't until I threatened legal action did they agree to pay ME for the damage to MY vehicle. Carefully inspect even brand new vehicles! Mine was obviously damaged on the lot.

Update - vehicle repaired guys. They sanded amd repainted the area. Had a loaner for 3 days. Cant tell u how nervous and anxious i was leaving my vehicle at the dealer that long thinking who knows what might happen. But im more than thrilled with the service i got. Was lucky to deal with a great sales lady and not the typical shady mofos

Excellent drive in getting it resolved!! Yea the monkey at the distribution center, dealership scratch everything. if you order a new car get their asap and get it out of their hands. disappointing but there is no pride in the workplace in anymore, at least at minimum wage level.
