Based on my readings... it looks cleaner, and sounds different? Any added improvements?

Makes cool noise. Won't give you a single horsepower but it eliminates that box on the stock intake which acts like a sound damnper. The little box where your vacuum ports plug in.

More noise, cleaner looking... that’s all. Performance gain? On Tacoma 3.4l, hood for like 2 hp.. I just like the noise

If you look at the "DUI handling area" by the flag pole you can see this.
    20201113_034153.jpg
On the very back wall of the plant, in a secluded corner, there is a framed photo from 2003. It was taken shortly after we opened. Yamashita was the original owner of my truck when he bought it new. While he was here in America helping to get the plant started.

I've walked by this picture countless times and there has always been too many things in the way. I've never been able to get up close to it before.

    Blown away...

This is where I work in 2003.

The first part of the story is Dad gets employed at work when I'm a wee lad. Can't be older than 7-8 yo. Yamashita (YAH-MAH-STAH) is brought over by Toyota from Japan to over see the start up of our plant. He buys my truck new. He was our VP? He was a higher up in plant management. Can't remember exactly what position. His father fell ill so Yamashita had to return to Japan to care for father. He sold all of his American worldly possessions and moved back to Japan. My pops bought my lil ole V6 from Yamashita in 2006-7? With 28,000 miles.

Fast forward to me learning how to drive in it, fast forward again to speeding tickets, fast forward again to my joining the forum, fast forward again to my build thread.

    Currently sitting at 326,800-ish miles.

Several deer impacts, several turkey, one bobcat, one coyote, one blood hound, one buzzard, one slide off the road during iced over conditions, one slide into a stump ass end first....

Long, long way to ba sing se....

It was a few pages back in this thread but it was specific to the ones with VSC. The 05-06 Tundra's have a really expensive master cylinder compared to the earlier trucks. VSC makes them even more expensive.

I’m thinking common sensical here. If an aftermarket air filter (which lets in more air and doesn’t filter as well) can ‘allow’ more horsepower, then a simple test run without any air filter would let us know if we ‘feel’ the power increase.

This test is only a test to see if one should risk using oily or more porous than OEM air filters. Only a test.

Your write up is sweet. I like it. Following your build now too. I'm jelly! Thank you!

I was concerned with the 5 gang rockers not fitting since I have 5 relays in the tacomapros box I slapped in. I appreciate your license plate mount. Much simpler, and lighter weight than mine. :D

Edit: I think I'm gonna try the toggle switches i posted earlier. If I want to go bigger (rocker switch) I can do that still.

I was taught to cut smaller first. (Measure twice, cut once kinda thing)

Thanks buddy. Initial install for the switch panel was rough and rushed. I ended up taking it all apart this summer, bending the spade connectors to 90° for all wires going into the rockers, then re-installing and applying a bit of plastic JB weld to to the corner of each rocker to keep them from popping out of the panel. That holder / headspace is tighter than a tics asshole...

I used this switch panel for reference: https://www.amazon.com/FXC-Rocker-A...rds=4+gang+switch+panel&qid=1605283615&sr=8-7

    5 might be pushing it.

We need to do an independent first gen test. Stock intake stock filter and high flow filter vs smooth tube stock filter and high flow filter.

Now who's got access to a dyno?
