The retrofit was pulled today. If anyone wants them, let me know. I have a spare set of ballasts since I ordered two by accident.

Things that occurred today:

1. Homecoming to TOY-OEM headlight/turn housings was a success.
2. Katana fanless Leds installed. I've yet to adjust these.
3. Ditch light brackets installed.
4. Cowl pulled, and trimmed cleaned underneath.
5. Attempted to find a decent place to mount my switch box. Unsure of where I can drill through without accidentally damaging something on the other side.

Did you have problems with the retrofit?

 

Not really, the main reason I removed them was this: I would forget that these are retrofit housings instead of just regular LED.

So when I would flick the lights on to do something really quick, and flick them off it would give me those weird electrical issues I was having. If I had thought to turn the truck on everything would have been fine, but I am forgetful like that especially when the color of the lights is so close to the fogs.

I experimented with them for a few nights or days to see if they were the culprit, and they were. I'm just so used to the minimal draw of an LED that I would just forget that these aren't LED.

@artsr2002 does this make any sense, or am I just not awake enough yet?

I did!! The person wasn’t following group rules, so I low balled them and they said sure! Usually I offer burritos, no one usually takes me up on that offer

 

I bet I need to replace my steering shaft seal. Lol

 

I caulked mine. The seal was torn and not as bad as some I’ve seen on this board. I used some acrylic squeeze tube with Gorilla Arm Technique. Working and holding well after 2 years. No more winter drafts up my pants leg.

May need to do the same. I haven't checked it yet but I do feel and hear a draft.

Cheap and easy if its not too far gone. Trick is bridging the gap of the flaps if they are still present otherwise new donut time.

Looking good. Is that the coastal off road or custom?

 

It’s the coastal, I don’t know if you were here YET, but it had some weird fitment issues starting at the main base plate, I made it work with little help from coastal. I then decided to make my own swing out based on their helpfulness.

 

Theres a lot of room on the panel by your left shin. To the right of the fuse access panel. ITs easy to pull with I think 4 10mm bolts.

I realize you already have a DC, but just wanted to say, back seat in AC is high up enough an average-sized kid at age 6 didn't need a booster for us. May even be possible at age 5 w/o a booster, didn't get a chance to try it. We're almost all double digits on ours at this point.

I really need to do this pretty badly. I think I might hit mine with some rustoleum hammered-finish though, or Rust Bullet, it's like POR-15 but silver. Don't want to pull mine til I figure out what's going on it first.

 

Hood realigned from bracket install yesterday.

Sanded rust from the top of the bed. Painted over sanded spots.

Bed liner washed.

@TomGreen and @FrenchToasty those bumper looks good, I want something along that lines. Just not completely sold on tire carrier for my truck

 

Yeah to be honest the tire carrier is a Lil much, I went full retard I on that build.

 

I got the Relay box mounted on the passengers side wheel well arch inside the engine bay. That was Tricky. I used the passengers side grommet to get the 7pin wire into the cab, and then it started to rain. Pulled off to drink a beer, and get some grub in my tum.

Pulling the headliner, T-tapping in @lsaami's illuminated sun visors, and replacing my rear high mount should probably wait until I've had some sleep, eh?

 

Got my spare fully mounted with mag lugs, I was only going to get 4 lugs but then realized my aftermarket rims aren’t mags, so I’ve got two extra mag lugs in my glove box for when I do need the spare. Grinder cut thru the lug like butter, and no threads 3/4 of the way up the hex part of the lug so I didn’t need to chase any threads. I didn’t realize I could have gotten open faced mags meant for a car....... oh well

 

So during my “let’s see what two weekends worth of front suspension work does test drive” I found a rattle that I absolutely can’t stand. The plastic clips that align my tailgate rods are broken and it sounds like a coffee can full of rocks inside my tailgate. Anyone have a part # or equivalent replacement?

 

Dealer, they’re like 2 bucks each.
