I see OP has done the right thing and have it professionally repaired, however, if you don't want to spend that money or effort, this is how I had fixed a previous truck. I had a few rust spots from rock chips or something that developed in short time after the rocks(?) hit it. There were several similar spots on my roof. I used a dremel to clean it all the way to bare metal, and then applied touch up paint in layers, and then clear coat, and wet sanded it. This was in 2013, and when I sold the truck in 2018 it still looked like the day I fixed it. I am sure if I did not do anything it would have been a totally different picture 5 years later.

I once brought a vehicle back 3 times because I was not happy with the repair. Brought my last F250 back twice till I was happy.

I wouldn't be happy with that edge above the gasket. You're not going to like this recommendation, but they should have pulled the windshield to do it right.

As mentioned, my windshield was pulled to treat it correctly. It may be difficult to get right without pulling.
Do you know if it was pulled?

    The paint looks good.

When I was talking with the adjuster before the fix , he said if they could fix it without pulling the windshield they wouldn't....I'm guessing it wasn't pulled. I'll see what he thinks on Monday, as long as the thing doesn't start to rust , I'll probably just walk away with another life lesson but I want to hear him say that is as good as they could do. I like to know if people are honest, I've bought 3 and still have 1 vehicle from this dealership.

I have the same issue with my wife's 14. I noticed it this spring when doing a thorough cleaning after the winter. Atlantic Canadian winters are sure tough on vehicles. I've kept it covered in molly grease all summer to keep it at bay until I get it fixed. Looks like crap but seems to have kept it from progressing in the short term. I'm going to book it in to get it repaired this week. Windshield has never been replaced so I expect it started with rock chips. There are 4 different spots bubbling right at the edge of the glass. I'll post some pics later if I think of it! Pissed at myself for not noticing it earlier but I don't drive it often and it's not that noticeable, until you see it, then can't un see it! I get it Krowned every year but I don't think they shoot the product up into the roof panel and their warranty does not cover rust that starts from the outside because of paint damage. Talked to a body shop. I know the owner who is also a Toyota guy through and through. He said he's done a few Tundras. At least 1 was covered by the dealer but it was only 2 or 3 yrs old. I tried the dealer anyway but no joy b/c of the age. The windshield will def need to come out to fix it right and I keep my vehicles for a long time so, I want it fixed right. My daily is an 09 Taco and before that was the replacement for my 90 Toyota pickup that I had for 19 years. I hope to get another 10 yrs out of my Taco! The guy said he uses extra windshield gasket material near the top to bring the glass out more. It's a bit recessed from the factory which isn't a great design. I didn't get a quote yet but he figures it could come to a grand all in. That's building in the cost of a replacement windshield in the event that it is broken during removal. He said it's rare but does happen. That price also includes bringing in an auto glass coy to handle that part. I let them do it but it would be at my own risk. I thought about using a wider trim moulding just on the top so any debris would hit that. I might also look at putting some clear wrap up there as well. I'm thinking that, if I do that, I might getaway without painting the whole roof or doing a fade/blend since the trim and wrap will cover the area. Figuring that might be a bit cheaper. I'm less concerned with the aesthetics of it, especially with it being in an unnoticeable area unless you're over 6 and a half feet tall! I've done some looking online but can't seem to find any wide trim that would work. Maybe a long shot but does anyone have any leads on where I could source such a thing, I mean besides asking a body shop or the auto glass place to find it? I've done that already but places I've checked basically said they could look into it when I bring it in. I kinda want to have something in hand before bringing it in though. So I know what I'm getting and to avoid delays or getting cornered into doing it differently, paying more, etc... Sorry for the long winded post and thanks in advance for any tips!!
