    Hi there

I often travel and often need to stay for a few nights in within the city limits (street parking, Walmart parking lot etc) in the car. Unless I want to overpay for the a hotel room. Unfortunately, "official" overnight parking is not always close to me (truck stop, rest area, campground etc). There was a time in my life when I literally lived in the car having no house. For now, I am looking for an option compatible with Tundra to sleep there overnight, not attractin attention of others (like with camper).

I don't want a trailer for tundra because of inconvenience to drive. The only option I see to conveniently sleep in the car is to get a truck camper. (Tundra can hold only certain campers because of its weight capacity).

But with camper, I feel myself as not welcome if I park along the city street overnight. Well, everybody sees the camper and it is obvious for people that somebody is inside.

Travelers from YouTube resolve this problem by buying cargo van, which gives them an option for stealth camping. Of course, it is not an option for me when I have Tundra.

Another option is truck bed cap, but it is not so spacious as camper.

Commercial companies build a big cargo cap, like for emergency vehicles etc. But it seems like the very expensive option. Also, unlike truck camper, I will be married to this cap which is impossible to detach from the truck.

Am I missing something? Any ideas for stealth camping with Tundra? Or maybe I can weld and do some diy myself?

Do you you have a backseat? I see you have an ext, is that a 4 door with a smaller rear backseat? Maybe remove the rear seats, and see what your options are.

Yep, it is a 4 door with a smaller rear backseat. However what I am looking for is a camper for the bed (not backseat). So this camper should not look like a camper so other people know I am inside. Maybe something like a cargo bed cap or etc

They make bed caps without windows. I think that would be your best bet as any light will be noticeable from outside at night. Does your rear window roll down like the crewmax? If so, you could even crawl in from the cab and no one would know.

Unfortunately, the moving part of the rear window is small, might need to replace it.. But idea is good! Then I can use cab space as if it would be a van!
Then I need a bed cap sized as a camper, with space above the cab. Once I saw such rack on craigslist , maybe need to weld it myself...
