    Hey friends,
I have a 2006 SR5 4WD Tundra with about 147k on it. Lately when I hit the gas to get in the passing lane or start up a hill the throttle will cut out on me. This is independent of the position of the pedal (which stays the same) Any thoughts on the matter would be much appreciated. Thanks

Pretty sure the fuel filter is integrated with the fuel pump on the '05-'06, maybe other years I'm missing.

@artsr2002 I think that's correct. I had heard the fuel filter can be the culprit so i went to pick one up at Autozone and they said that's not a serviceable part. Any other ideas there?

I forget the filter is part of the fuel pump system in the tank on 05-06 models. My bad.

    Try cleaning the throttle first.

check for codes. might be going into failsafe mode (common on failing air pumps). clean throttle. live data on a scanner will show if the pedal sensor has a dead spot..

    Welcome!
Your description is pretty vague. I presume by "cuts out" you mean stumbles and/or misfires, is that correct? Can you describe in more detail what happens? When you initially press the throttle, does the engine react normally, then stumble? Or does it happen as soon as you get on the throttle? If you continue to keep the pedal pressed, does it build RPMs slowly, or continue in this state?

I had a camaro in the past that ran ok until i gave it the beans to pass then it would stumble on its ass. That one turned out to have a clogged catalytic converter. Replaced and all was good.

Had a firebird that had similar issues, turned out to be plugs. Replaced and all was good. There could be a number of items that could cause stumbling, hesitation, or general falling on its ass-ness.

Clean the MAF and Throttle body, then test.

I had Pontiac years ago that would do this about every 30k miles. Cleaned the MAF and it would run like new again.
