The lights on the package tray may come in handy if you had a vehicle under tow ~ but even that might not be legal . . .

Like a trip into Mexico ~ it's all good until it goes bad . . .

Nah, none of it legal. Red and blue are reserved for police, no moron like me needs a hot rod equipped with legit red and blues!! They were free to me, so I wasn't about to let that go to waste!!

1992 Subaru SVX... My first car, coolest turd ever. 100k original miles. I see less of these than DeLoreans. Remember being 16 and swapping out the transmission in the driveway with my dad, comparable to a vocab class on curse words. Then I remember selling it do a guy across the state, he took my word for it on the condition and flew down from San Francisco to Orange county to drive it back home. If I still had this car I would've rallies it out and threw a RTT on it for shitz n gigs.

cool thread. 1971 camaro rs was my first, it's not the one below.

i was 15 working at a chevron for min wage $3.10/hr making $50 payments per month for a total of $500.00 lol. a lot of money back then esp for a 15yr old. it was a beater but i did the body work myself and cherished the car. my brother borrowed it, drove 150+ miles away for his work and the motor blew. never saw it again.

more to the story if interested...

forward to last yr. mid life crisis, lol. i wanted a fast car and my wife agreed that it wasn't right i never saw my camaro again. we agreed on a budget and i went looking. found this 1970 rs z28 tribute with a 350 small block and loved everything except the hood scoop and no a/c. but i still put a deposit down. came back later in the day to close and it wouldn't start. i then realized as much as i want one, i just don't have the time like i used to, to deal with unreliable vehicles.

needless to say i didn't buy this one b/c it wouldn't start:

my 17yr old daughter then put me in check and said "take your time daddy, you have a budget...don't rush in, make a good choice". im blessed she's so wise. so i start looking at 911's, gtr's, nsx's all out of budget and even newer camaro's. somehow i stumble on this 2017 lexus rc f with the NA 5.0L 2UR-GSE V8 and 467+ hp. it's heavy and not the fastest in its class but it's fast enough for me, build quality is impeccable and of course i get the toyota motor reliability i love. so happy. i got my (japanese) muscle car!

    Our stories are VERY similar.

Mine was a '66 I bought when I was 15 (1976) for $600. Poured every dollar I made into that car before I finally got my DL. Everything was done and had just gotten all the dings repaired and primed and she was ready for paint.

Ran out of gas, sitting on the side of the road, when, BAM!!! Slammed by some drunk woman. I was walking back with my gas can and saw the whole thing happen in slow motion. Was not a good night.

Ended up buying the wreck back from insurance, grabbed the stuff I wanted (mainly just the interior that I had just gotten redone), and parted out the rest.

    Thanks for the kind words.

Did you replace the hood or just wrap it? Either way it looks sick!

I joined the Navy in '83 also. Already had a car and sold it when I left for boot camp.
    1966 Olds Dynamic 88. I loved that old car.image000000_3_1.jpg

For years I've been wanting to build a frame and make a chair for the garage using the back seats. I had the pony interior. I always liked them. One of these days I'm going to do it!

    Do it!!!

My had a pimp daddy, custom interior. You can kind of see it in this pic.

This was taken after I had moved the interior to the replacement Mustang. If I remember right, I paid somewhere around $800 to have that ugly crap done. Ooh, the '70's!!!

My first car was a 1970 Cutlass.
Here's what it looked like back in 1985 just after I had it painted.cutlass2.jpg
