    Hey all.

Made the jump from a 2017 taco trd pro to a 2020 tundra trd pro last night. Artic white for the win!

    Few comments and questions..

Love the truck..granted only at 100 miles, but the extra room and power is amazing..

I had swapped the tires on my taco to Falken Wildpeak at3ws like 4k miles back..and honestly, I think they are an optuon on the Tundra. I seriously hate the stock Michelins. Curious if anyone else is running them at 285 75 18s, and if any rubbing has been observed with stock suspension on a Pro.

Secondly, the stock JBL premium speakers are a joke. Really. No surprise I am sure. Curious if anyone has swapped out the stock for focals..if so what model, amp, and sub did ya all run with?

    Thx guys.

Welcome from NC! 295 70 18 is about as big as you want to go with no trimming.

I’ve been going back and forth between the 285 and 295. Still have some tread left but will need to make a decision before the end of the year

Got my Pro exactly 2 weeks ago and have about 300 miles on it and I agree with you on the sound system. My 15 year old Prius has a better sound system than the top of the line TRD Pro that is worth more than 10 times the Prius haha.

With the tires, as previously mentioned 295-70-18 would be the biggest without rubbing. If you run 285 or 295 70 18, you gotta remove the small front mud flaps under on the front bumper. 275-70-18 is the biggest you can go without removing those mud flaps. Personally, I went with 275-70-18 ko2s that are waiting for me st Discount Tire. On a side note, I actually really like the feel of the Michellins but prefer the meatiness of an AT tire.

    Thx guys.

Trying to find a place local thwt has the wildpeaks instock in 275 70 or 295 70. Sometimes living in the sticks does have a disadvantage.

Re stereo..yeah, figured on amp... gonna see if I can find someone nearby to do the install once I figure out wtf I need... and hopefully find someone to work for ammo. Lol.

Many times 295’s will weigh about 10lbs more (for each tire) than 285’s - so 50lbs extra including the spare. These trucks are already heavy drinkers so it may not mean much to you, but something to consider.

and as for the stereo, I just replaced my HU last night with a Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX and holy crap did it make a difference. Speakers still aren’t that great, but it sounds 1000% better with just a HU upgrade.

I have the 285/70/18. You do not have to remove the front mudflap. No rub at all

I ended up paying for it......but took the PRO to the audio professionals. They swapped out all the speakers including the sub box if you want to call it that. Put in an amp, JL audio sub box specific to Tundra crew cabs, and Hertz tweeters and door speakers.

Pricey as all get out. But sounds amazing now. Kept stock head unit and still sounds great with the work they did.

Sound of Tri state in DE if anyone in DE or MD is looking.

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Did changing your head unit mess up any of the security or safety functions or remote start?

If you use the Idatalink Maestro RR or RR2 and the appropriate harness, you won’t lose anything. The only bad part I noticed is that When talking over the phone hands free, it is not very clear. I’m trying to find a fix, but not sure if there is one. And on a side note, you gain a lot of other gauges you can monitor that I did not see on the other radio (May have been there but didn’t see them).

Just about ready to pull trigger on speakers...just fighting the decision of morel 602 maximo ultras in all the doors, or focal is690's up front and is165 in rear...

Down the road will do the dsr1 and 5.1ch amp...
