So a few times today while running errands I get the ‘beep’ after locking the truck from the keyfob and then a few seconds later it ‘beeps’ again....what gives? Everything is still locked though.

Walking away from the truck I press the ‘lock’ button and the truck gives the acknowledging ‘beep’...this is where normalcy ends. Today a few times while performing this action it locks the truck, the truck beeps at me to say ‘hey, you did it...you locked the doors.’ But then like 3 seconds later the truck ‘beeps’ again.
    Make sense?

Maybe a door switch going bad? What kind of repeat beep is thrown at you, a Morse code type beep(maybe decode it, your truck is saying HELP!!!) or just a solid beep that makes you want to poke your ears out with a ice pic? I can’t help with either sounds, but I’d like to know, for a friend.......

Haha that’s the same beep mine makes when I’m not thinking and try to lock it with the door I’m looking at, open.

Those videos were a "mild" storm. I'm still waiting on the 'Naders.

Its been raining off, and on for the last 3 days.

By rain, I mean HEAVY HEAVY down pour for about an hour, and calm as can be for about an hour. Cycle repeats.

I'll try to get more lightning shots the next time I can.

    @CodyP

Was thinking about your double beep situation.

I remember my fob would make the truck been once for lock/unlock. If you didn't get to the doors in 30 seconds it would beep again, and lock itself back up.

Additionally, if you unlock your doors from the inside, and your last Fob command was to lock, the security system will think that the doors are still locked so it will "unlock" your already unlocked doors. Again, don't get to the doors in 30 seconds and it will lock anyway. (2nd beep) A redundancy, but a welcome one.

To the best of my knowledge there isn't a sensor telling the security system what state the door locks are in, so it just does the opposite of whatever command it received last. If that makes sense to someone besides me?

Thats how my 2002 is anyway. Not sure about your 2006.

I no longer use my fob. I still have the working guts, but the plastic two button case is beyond repair.

You should test out your timing sometime when you have, say 45 seconds to spare?

Press button, and count seconds from first "unlock" beep to the second non-buttoned "lock" beep.

I keep timing data in my brain for things like this. Its "useless" info, but I like it.

Thanks for the thoughts @Tundra2 but you have it wrong.
    Me: press keyfob lock button
Truck: ‘beep’ (says I’m now locked)
2-4seconds pass as I’m continuing to walk away from the truck
Truck: ‘beep’ (FU Cody...I beep however and whenever I want to!)

*Truck doors are locked still though after all this

I wouldn't say they are overpopulated.

The deer I saw this morning are the same deer I saw the other day. Distinctive markings.

I think I read somewhere that deer have a home range of 5 miles that they inhabit, and meanders around in the range. While i was typing this I realized that I might be mistaken, and that the 5 mile range is for a buck during rutting season.

Well, It's almost August and I haven't been doing much on my truck with everything going on in life these days. It's been retarded busy and stressful the last couple months. My front end rebuild and rear leaf spring replacement with air bags is now pushed off to next year. Up for this fall are 3 criticals that absolutely have to be done before winter hits; block heater replacement as this spring I noticed it leaking a bit of coolant where it connects to the block, battery and connectors since mine are in crap shape and finally a new remote starter as my remote has finally give up the ghost. If I get a chance, replacing my broken glove box latch would be nice to do as well.

Well. My father got into a nasty accident today in my corolla. 45 stiches later and a broken wrist he’s home and recovering.

The poor car was 100k away from that magic 1 million mark!

damn thing still runs and has cold a/c. The damn radiator didn’t break again. [IMG]

won’t post the photo of pops. Too much blood. But he’s going to be sore for a while.

Glad to hear he is going to be ok. Bummer about being close to that 1mil mark. Can’t you just throw a new tire on it and keep driving it?!? :)

I’m going to probably buy it back. Had full coverage. So anything profit to me after buying back. Might try to replace the apron or use it as a donor for another base model.
