so I just bought this 2012 4.6L 2WD SR5.. Ive always wanted a tundra and I've finally achieved that goal. Having said that it has around 100k miles but its had one owner previously who had all maintenance documentation and its been taken care of. Its lifted with 35" tires and im just looking for recommendations or things to avoid with this specific model of truck. Yes I know that the 5.7 is preferred but the 4.6 is fine to get me around. Thanks in advance!20200523_155100.jpg

Drive it and if you like it go for it. Sweet looking truck! Lifted w/ 35s will take a toll on stock gearing. Lotta options- you could regear ($$$) or even score a set of rock warriors and maybe dip down tire size (I know- blasphemy)- that would be killer.

Welcome from Texas. What do you mean by recommendations? This group would gladly recommend everything possible just because they all love Tundras! I'd say drive it as is for a bit and then mention of there are things you feel could be improved, that why you get more target comments. But as Jim said, this site gets potentially expensive (I have a very long wishlist now). Lot of people do things that impress you and you never would have thought to do yourself.

I guess i was asking for tips based off what people have experienced after 100k miles. Is there anything common that needs replaced or do I drive it til the wheels fall off. Just want to reach out to people and get suggestions. I've heard people say it looks stupid to lift a 4.6L thats 2WD but I don't really go off reading so it looks great to me.

Hopefully someone with a 2nd gen will chime in about if you need to do anything specific maintenance wise. Outside of anything unusual, it seems it was regularly maintenanced so I vote for driving until the wheels fall off and then bolt on some new ones!

If it has been properly maintained then there shouldn't be much that needs to be done. Just keep doing routine maintenance and enjoy your Tundra

Welcome from Wyoming. That is a gorgeous truck. Really wish they still had that green as an option. Only thing I would recommend is making sure you're not on a spacer lift. Other than that, if you are happy with it, drive the hell out of it!

You are good to go. It's not even broken in yet. Here is my 2013 4.6 that just hit 96,000. I'm on 34's. I bought mine brand new so PM me any time if you have questions or need any help.

My uncle has a 2nd gen with almost 200k on it and it hasn't needed anything other than normal maintenance. You will be good to go for quite sometime.

Yeah I just bought a 2011 Double Cab with a 5.7 and it looks like it was used a little harder than yours but I haven't had to do much to it. Dealer was a Toyota dealership so they changed the oil and air and cabin filters. Everything thing else looks super clean though. I had to adjust and tighten the headlights (they were loose for some reason) Polished the headlights and fog lights. Im about to order some door window moldings/sweeps since mine are falling apart, but the truck is solid. Engine runs smooth like my Lexus LS430, transmission shifts smooth. I have a bit of a rear end/driveshaft clunk every now and then I need to check out and I think I'm going to do Bilsteins soon as the truck is a bit bouncy/rough on bad roads but this truck could have 50k on it from how it looks and performs. Oh yeah it probably needs brakes as I get a good shimmy when first hitting the brakes but it stops fine. Love Toyota and Lexus, you almost cant go wrong unless you're just unlucky or you buy something thats obviously beat to death.
