They take longer to set up than the Oztent and arent modular. Theyre also much heavier duty, meant to be a 4 season tent and are pretty much water tight. Size wise the bags are about the same oddly, but the Oztent is slightly lighter.

We are going on a camping trip / family vacation starting Monday and I found out a few weeks ago that my new camper won't be done in time, so my buddy told us we could borrow his CVT tent for a few weeks.

The rack is just a short term solution for the trip so I didn't add anything crazy when I built it, but it should work out great.

The blemished wheel I ordered from @SCSPerformance arrived also, so I went ahead and mounted up one of the tires just so I could see what they looked like. Now I just need to snag 4 more when they get more in stock next month.

That's going to happen pretty quick when we get home from our trip hopefully. It will be the first step to clearing the tires on the front.

I'm constantly looking for ideas on this forum, with your experience and welding talents, I'm curios to see what you come up with, maybe...I will decide to replace my bumper.

I finished up a temporary dual battery setup for our trip today. I used a cheap box I had laying around to put the battery, Redarc bcdc charger and all the wiring in. I also added a volt meter, and twist lock plug for our Dometic fridge.

Over the last month we spent a ton of time camping and put a ton of miles on the truck in northern NM, Utah, Colorado, and Idaho.

A few hiccups from the trip.

#1 we got hit in the parking lot of a gas station. The guy just got the passenger rear wheel and didn't hit any body panels fortunately. No permanent damage.

#2 on second day we found a chewed up granola bar and a torn up bag. We thought we picked up a chipmunk and after tearing the truck apart we thought we got rid of it.

    00000IMG_00000_BURST20200707104833438_COVER.jpg

    00000IMG_00000_BURST20200707104845335_COVER.jpg

#3 we got a rock chip early on in the trip that quickly proceeded to crack across the entire windshield.

#4 we were doing a trail near Fairfield Idaho when my wife discovered more food was torn up and something chewed on part of her book. I guess we didn't get rid of our rodent problem. After buying a few traps and setting them out over night we found our problem. Not a chipmunk, but a small mouse.

#5 we met a semi on a two lane road that hit us with enough wind to knock all the hood bulge clips loose. After pulling over and reattaching it we though we were ok. We battled it throughout the trip until we were north of Salt Lake City and the darn thing wouldn't stay attached. We pulled over and removed it completely until we could get new clips in Draper UT.

    IMG_20200717_203840000.jpg

The rest of the trip was great and everybody had a good time.

We were home for only one night when we decided we weren't quite ready to be home yet, so we went out to a nice not well known camp site for a few more nights.

We were doing 75 and he was doing at least that on a two lane road. He was also pulling 3 trailers loaded with hay. It did feel like he hit us though.

Yeah I've never had anything like that happen before. I've heard enough horror stories though that I wanted to deal with it as soon as I could and fortunately I caught it pretty quickly.

From the parking lot accident? The guy just got the wheel, not the bumper.

Man, I know all about #5 on your damage report. My bulge flew off on the highway doing somewhere between 75 and 80 mph. It started vibrating and it was gone over the freaking cab in about 4 seconds. It had popped loose a couple of times before in West Texas but I was always able to pull over and get it back into place. Not the third time...LOL Had to buy another bulge because the semi behind me destroyed it. New after market clips too that are much stronger.

    Cool build!

Yeah, it was a great trip. The tundra handled the highway like a champ and I'm ready to get the next part of the build going so the off-road stuff is more fun.

On that note, some new parts finally showed up yesterday. Just waiting on the rest so I can install everything at once.

It did awesome. There was a couple times we camped in one spot for up to 3 days without moving the truck and the Renogy battery kept the fridge running without ever getting below 50%. And the Redarc always had the battery charged again after running the truck by the next camp site. I'm excited to add solar to it to really utilize it to it's full potential.

I don't have them on yet. I'm waiting on the rest of my suspension to show up and for SCS to restock so I can get wheels with the correct offset.

No sir. I got 1 blemished wheel from SCS for my spare and decided to see how it looked on the truck with the 37". If they had 4 blemished wheels I definitely would have had them on already.

Here's a couple teaser pics from the last couple days.

Camper goes on Friday morning and I'm still waiting on the rear suspension and wheels. The coilovers and uca's are sitting in the garage by the new tires just waiting to be installed.
