Yes, goes over the chrome. This video shows the process. If you have sensors note that mine didn’t disconnect like is shown in this vid, I had to use a screwdriver to lift the release tab.

That looks pretty sweet. Do you happen to have a general parts list? The only dealings with strut I've had is when a few electricians I know need some welded onto poles lol

I never drove one of those, but my buddy loves his. My 06 v6 6spd coupe was one of the most fun cars I've ever owned. Not sure why Honda ditched the V6.

Uses a clamping system. I don’t have the factory bed track system. I used the version that clamps onto the bed rails like a full fiberglass contractor cap. The kit also includes bed track nuts as in pic 2 that can go into the factory bed track system.

BTW, the tonneau roll up canister would fully block the rail against the cab wall.

Installed the OEM W Drop Steps part# 00016-34787 (XSP Tundra). Install was pretty easy - took 20 minutes. Being aluminum, they are very light weight compared to others I looked at. Also I did some looking with my eyeballs from many different angles and these steps (to my surprise) do not reduce clearance. The gas tank shield actually sits lower than the bottom of these steps. These steps also have 4 mounting points rather than the 3 that some steps have. I also appreciate that even though these are NOT sliders, if I am off-road and I happen to catch something (like I did last weekend) the design on the underside lets the truck slide rather than bulldoze or get hung up. They don't stick out as far as I though they would either. Very happy to have these on my Tundra, and so is my fiancé.

    Detailed pics below ...

This is the part number I used for my truck. It should work for yours as well. It cross references to several different ones from Camry to Rav4 or something but I just bought new.

I'd highly recommend going OEM on anything like this. Better safe than sorry. If you hit up Roman in the Ultimate OEM thread he should be able to get you the exact number and he also offers a discount on the shipping cost.

Changed out a headlight...that was clearly designed to be labor intensive to make dealerships money.

Ended up swapping out the fogs for new and matching bulbs.
