Since all my front suspension work is done (for a long time, I hope), including the diff drop I did last night, I finally got the skid plate back on. I know it's a hassle to remove and most say they don't need it, but I like having the extra protection down there.

Didn't realize the plastic side guards wouldn't go back on after the lower bumper trim delete...


So, achieved with removable zip ties, I present my jankest mod yet:

 

You're the best. I need those courtesy lights in my life even though they're not a necessity. I wonder if I could find some to match all my interior LEDs from SuperBrightLEDs.com, they're more of a greenish white.

 

Give it a check. These were recco’d by @Festerw on Big Gurrl. They said white in the description, but have a little blue in them in person. They are cheap and easy to install and well worth it. The light hits right were you want it when opening the door. Another member did theirs and used longer strips for more light. You could even do the back doors if you wanted. In total, it was about $10 for the strips and another $10 for T-Clamp Crimp Fittings (large multi-size box). Took about 3 hours total.

 

Mine has some zip tie engineering too. Mostly from a hidden ditch breaking all the plastic doodles out.
Functionally the same and you can't see it until you're underneath so who cares?

 

I'd look for a local A/C place. They'll be able to test everything out for you before spend the loot on unnecessary parts.

 

Disclaimer: I’ll gladly admit I know nothing beyond basic maintenance on cars and can only fix issues once I research what parts are called and reading threads.

What is this and is it normal? Looks like a leak. I don’t like leaks. This is also why I avoid crawling under my vehicles and start poking around bc my OCD takes over and now I have to fix said “leak”.

First time posting here. All of you are a wealth of information and I'm glad I found the site! I replaced my drive belt, tensioner assembly, and idler pulley today...it was a bear to get the tensioner assembly on. I have a Haynes manual and they skipped the part where you have to take off timing belt cover, alternator, and PS pump off to get the damn thing out lol I budgeted for about 2 hours of wrenching and had to call off plans to extend to 4 hours. Anyways it's done and I'm happy I got a new belt on, it was weather cracked badly and had pebbles imbedded in it. Also tensioner bearing was badly worn. Thanks Haynes lol

 

Wonder if this could be related to the annoying pop I’m hearing when I punch it from a stop.

Already have it going in for new U-joints and the carrier bearing later this week.

I listened to this in my Tundra this AM and this seemed appropriate to post it here....

 

trying to find out if i am missing a bolt on the tail of my trans (02 2wd)
found late last night when under it, just looked again after getting home from work
clearly a threaded hole about 1/2" deep
does not look like it would do anything to me
have a buddy at a yota shop looking into it on tech info system
anyone weigh in?

 

I haven't looked to see the replies you've received yet, but I had this happen to myself when I was trying to charge my system to make it colder. The compressor actually would turn itself off when there's too much pressure. I would assume it's a safety thing. I ended up using my friends vacuum and ac charging system to fix what I messed up in the first place.

If you aren't worried about the environment, I'd recommend relieving quite a bit of pressure from the system and seeing if the compressor fires up again.

 

Corrected the Angle of the Dangle on my wiper nozzles specifically the passenger side. Driver side has always been in perfect symmetry. The passenger side was shooting high and to the Starboard side Captain. Used a thin shim made from a thick plastic clear bottle. Cut it into a small sliver and put a bias on the tip so as it would slip under the base. Turns out this is how you remove the nozzle because the tab released when doing so.

Anyhow, ended up working a small sliver under and cocking it to the center. Everything is nicely lined up. Might use some Gorilla Glue Double Sided Tape from the underside hood holes to keep things locked in place for the long term vibrations.

I did use a specialize fine pointed file to experiment with boring the nozzle holes just slightly larger. Mostly I was just cleaning the brass tip of the hole. I’m thinking of cutting a horizontal slot across the brass pin holes to mod these into a wider spray action.

 

3 of 4 holes I was able to file horizontal slots and adjust the sprays a little more course mist versus direct pin jet nozzle stream. The 4th Hole the file tip snapped BUT due to the shape of the specialized file tip it makes for an awesome fine mist that I wish I could replicate on the other 3!

 

I could be incorrect and often am but I think the sprayer nozzles are able to be moved. Like stick a small needle/drill bit in there and aim them.

 

Replaced the OEM rear shocks with new Bilstein 5100s. Pulled the front coilovers and dropped them off, along with replacement front Bilstein 4600 shocks, at my helpful truck repair guy to switch out the springs for me. 20 years and 115,000 rough miles on the old Bilsteins, it was overdue and I cannot complain. Also added refrigerant to the AC, and it is cooling again!

 

Well, it’s not for the audiophiles, but it gets me the Bluetooths and a microphone to talk to the old lady on the road. Speakers even sound better to boot. $75 well spent, I think at least.

It does annoy me bc I don’t like anything but a stock “look”, but I squinted real hard and the glass and green text matches the clock - I found a way to justify it.

 

Decided to wax the ol girl since it's been a couple months. She's slippery, shiny, and faster now of course.

I've been seriously thinking about a 4wd swap and a guy parting out an 05 double cab told me he would give me the axles, diff, trans, transfer case, ECU, and the center panel with the 4wd buttons for $500. I feel like the offer is too good to refuse.

I understand a swap is irrational, but my tundra is super sentimental not including all the money and time I've put into it already.

What do you guys think? I think the ACC cab and Double cab share all those same parts.

Well its not been done yet but this weekend I get to do All 3 U-Joints this weekend.
Had a vibration that I chased for a couple days till my airheaded self finally climbed under it.
.....well they made it 140,000 before deciding to go

Good news is I have the joints being shipped from Rock Auto that should be in tomorrow!
And my new radio should be in today.
