Colorado's roads suck! I have been watching threads on this topic for a year and am constantly steered toward the 6112/5160 combo. I drive all over this state daily and the bed bounce on my truck is a killer some times. I added the TRD rear sway bar which helped with handling and added about 300 lbs. to my bed with a Decked system full of testing/inspection equipment. Added Firestone Air bags for towing, that I keep at 10 lbs. when not towing, and I still hate the ride. Let me know how the ride feels going down Sheridan road or Federal.

The Excel-G front p/n 341480 and rear p/n 349054. They also have the quick struts for the front SR4466 and SR4465.

Update: After a few thousand miles I am really enjoying this upgrade. Especially now that it is broken in and that i have made some "adjustments". First of all, i don't suggest anyone do this, but I removed my front (anti-)sway bar. With (what i have been told are) 650lb springs the truck doesn't corner like a sports car, but it also don't sway like a delivery truck after removing the swaybar. After testing it for a few weeks without the sway bar, i plan to leave it off unless i'm towing, hauling, or doing lots of highway traveling.

I recently took the family out on an easy off-road trail (basically bumpy and rocky, but an "easy" trail to be sure) and got to air down for the first time. We all really enjoyed the overall ride. The family commented how great it felt, once the tires were aired down to about 25psi, even over super bumpy terrain.

Afterward, i started playing with different tire pressure's in the 285 75 17 (34x11.5x17ish) BFG KO2s and with 37psi up front and 32psi in the rear (Snugtop Topper + 40lbs of recovery gear/stuff in bed) the truck has really felt great.

I can't objectively (or subjectively) say that i made the "best" choice with the 6112 / 5150 / Shackles, but i really don't regret the path i chose. I will be heading out in the next few weeks fully loaded for a few days of camping and will report back with my findings.

i havd 6112/5160 - they are great but will not improve your ride. i would recommend Kings / fox etc that are adjustable so you can dial in the soft ride and then firm up if you tow etc

ha - nevermind - i see i responded to an old thread :)

Almost 2 years and I’m still enjoying the 6112 / 5160. They are firmer than a lot of folks let on. For me it was an improvement over stock and are likely the best value suspension, but if I had to do it over I would really look carefully at some fox 2.5 with DSC adventure tuned from AccuTune.
I still enjoy my truck 90% of the time, but the concrete sections of highway can be pretty uncomfortable.

i found this guys thread really helpful btw:

Bilstein’s in general are definitely on the stiffer side of ride quality especially in regards to small bumper sensitivity. Which is great in SOME cases but definitely not for DD on rougher roads IMHO. Unfortunately I didn’t learn this until I started using other brands and riding in non-Bilstein lifted trucks…

i like the firmer ride...not a huge difference to me. I actually think moving from the stock tires to the e load 295/70 18s was a bigger difference
