    Does anyone have or know where to find a breakdown of the wiring harness coming off of the amplifier? I have removed the factory head unit and am left with a 20 pin plug that has 13 wires going to it. I have not been able to find an accurate breakdown of which wire does what. Any help is appreciated!

    Hopefully this can shed some light on the subject....

    All 13 wires are identified on the diagram.

    Thanks. It sheds some light, but there is still a bit that is hidden. The colors of the wires in my wiring connector are different from what is in the provided schematic (see photos). I would prefer to figure this out before I start cutting and splicing wires. Any ideas?20200514_140804.jpg 20200514_140812.jpg 20200514_143812.jpg

    Can I ask why you're cutting wires? There's adapters for under $10 so you can leave the factory connectors.

    Are you saying that the pre-amp should be bypassed, then? The factory configuration has the head unit plugging into a pre-amp, which has the 13-wire connector coming out of it. The pre-amp has 2 other connectors going into it.

    Factory configuration:
    2 connectors -> pre-amp w/ 13-wire connector -> factory head unit

    Proposed configuration:
    2 connectors -> aftermarket harness adapter -> aftermarket head unit (Blaupunkt Baltimore)

    Does this seem like it would work?

    Blaupunkt is German. Germans make good stuff. @Pucks18 post up a link or pic of your adapter.

    Bypass the factory amp, the harness pictured above my post will plug into the 2 plugs that are plugged into factory amp.

    When I installed stereos back in the day, that amp stayed in the truck. It was much easier to unplug the harness, bypass the amp and leave the amp where it was.

    After barking up a lot of wrong trees, I have finally gotten the stereo wiring harness sorted out. The amplifier needed to be bypassed in order to reveal the wiring connectors to which my wiring adapters connected. Thanks to everyone who contributed info.

    I also added a back up camera since the new head unit could accommodate. Why not, right?20200603_205007.jpg 20200508_220112.jpg

    Start by filling out your profile to list what year and type of cab your (dad's?) truck is, "regular", "access" or "double".
    Then go create your own thread asking for help with whatever you need help with.
    It would help to know if your truck has tweeters in the front door, and if you see "JBL" anywhere on the radio face.

    Whatever you do, DO NOT cut the factory harness(es).
