Yes, I agree the Finance guys will twist and turn and do anything to sell a way over priced EW.

Real price that should be paid on that 10 year / 125K EW is $1,795 through a contact I have.... and most likely all dealerships, but most will tell you that's below their cost.

    That price sounds high actually.

That's the best price I could find nationwide, if you have a better contact with better prices I would love to hear it.

See post 55 and 57 of this thread. People were purchasing the 8 year 125k mile platinum for about 1k....I doubt adding 2 years to that coverage period is going to add up to another $700 in dealer cost.

On one of them its not Toyota Platinum VSA (FD Warranty.com is a business called Factory Direct) and adding 2 years does jump the cost up. If anyone finds a better price for Toyota Care Platinum – Zero Deductible Extended Warranty that can be purchased now I would like to know so I can pass on the info to the 4Runner forum I'm a member of.

    Thanks much and cheers, Gamester

Adding two years and no mileage shouldn't jump the price by $700... not a proportionate increase in price/value. The better deal is at $1000-$1100 for an 8 year 125k Platinum VSA which are the warranties sold by Toby at Shreveport Lexus and yes they are Toyota VSAs, zero deductible. Not sure what you're referring to as "Factory Direct"....

I wouldn't go for it. I pretty much told the finance guy that the deal was made prior to me walking in the dealership and I'm not interested in any shpeel so don't bother. He said he had to so I told him he's wasting his time.

I can tell you with 100% confidence, they're worth every penny! I work for a company that is the largest provider and we review claims and losses daily... 70+ % of the time they're used multiple times by the owner, so that means 7 out of 10 vehicles on the road break multiple times in ownership!

Is that VSA a Toyota Care VSA of just a 3rd party EW? My guess is its a 3rd party the dealership uses and not an actual Toyota VSA. Max is 10yr / 125k for Toyota Care VSA.

You are correct, it is s third party. I did some more asking around and digging...found out it is not Toyota.

I contacted management at the dealership and after expressing my dissatisfaction got them to price match a quote I got from another dealership for the same service plan. Saved myself $1,100 with a 5 minute phone call!

Call and ask Toyota Financial Services they should be able to run your VIN and tell you what your truck is eligible for...

Just purchased a new 2020 Platinum Tundra. I’ve read thru several threads discussing pros and cons of buying the EW.

with all the computer and electronics I’d like the peace of mind of having the platinum 100k (or 125k) Miles. I typically keep my cars for 10-15 years.

there seems to be a lot of variability in pricing. Anyone have a goal price I should shoot for in the platinum EW?

    Thx
    Randy

I bought a platinum EW through Toyota when I bought my Taco in '18. I had a ton of issues w my Jeep before that so I guess thats why I bought it, but I've never bought one before. When I traded in my Taco for my Tundra, the dealer said he could look into it and cut me a check for the remainder if I didn't want it any more. Which I didn't.

Following day, I go in to finalize the deal and his finance guy says I can keep my deal and would only cost me @$560 to keep it, only added $5 or so to my monthly so I thought why not.

So the other day I tried to locate details on my EW just so I was prepared to use it and to make sure I could *potentially* squeeze as much value as I could from it. I couldn't find a thing on it, and ended up writing in to Toyota Financial to get some details. I gave them my EW application number from the dealer and they said they haven't even received the application yet. Wtf...seems a little shady, contacting them today/tmrw to tell them I'm waiting on it...

I replaced my ac condenser and my alternator. Paid 0 dollars for repairs and they rented my a vehicle while repairs took place. Dealer charged 2k for condenser and 800+ for alternator. So the 1500 i paid has been recouped. I know that a private shot would charge 700 for the condenser and 500 for the alternator but hey its oem stuff and i have peace of mind.
