Trailer Not Recognized

    Appreciate anyone who can offer assistance with this problem.
    2018 Boat trailer is not recognized by the Toyota integrated brake controller. Trailer lights all work 4.0, but I cannot adjust the trailer brakes at all because Tundra display shows "no trailer connected." Multiple other trucks have no issue with the boat trailer, so it seems like the problem is with my 2018 Tundra Limited.

    Local dealership looked at vehicle but couldn't find any issues. Second dealership said it might be a blown fuse but couldn't tell me which one...Does this sound like a TSB 0036-19 issue?

    Shouldn't be this hard! Thanks for any feedback.

    Check your trailer ground. I have had issues since my trailer grounds through the ball hitch. Also, shutting truck off, plug trailer in then start up may help.

    Thanks @stuckinohio I'll try both - truck at second dealership now for hopefully the reflash fix of the firmware - not optimistic.

    No problem hope you get it straightened out. Since my trailer grounds through the ball it doesn't provide a consistent ground and makes the Toyota IBC go crazy. I plan to rewire my trailer harness eventually but have been running a jumper wire to help ground to the truck frame better. It's not the ideal solution but allows me to be legal and not get rear ended.

    Is your boat trailer a 7pin or a 4 pin?
    Does the trailer have brakes?

    Trailer has trailer brakes and is a 7 pin. New trailer (2018) so it might be the LED/resistance issue I've seen on this thread earlier.
    But, the trailer ground is always a good place to start t/s. Will let you know how I make out - appreciate the help.

    Dealer performed the ECU re-flash with the TSB 0036-19 - no joy - still not recognized.
    Trying the 7 way adaptor next and if that fails the Prodigy RF.

    Did you find the problem? I'm having the same issue trying to rewire a trailer and the truck says "no trailer"

    there are issues w/ 2018 models, maybe others that require the dealer to flash/update the controller ecu.

    Trailer Disconnected Message When Towing.
    Research Indicates T-Sb-0036-19 Will Solve The Issue.

    Had that performed at the dealer and have been all good since.
