I've been designing and building them for a few years now. Here's a few photos of some recent models.

I love knives! I tend to buy cheap ones because I carry them all the time for work. I don’t want to lose a good one. So I buy the cheap Smith and Wesson‘s from Amazon. But I have an amateur blacksmith neighbor who made me a nice one. Someday I’ll splurge and get me a nice expensive one. The ones you made are beautiful. Especially since you make them yourself.

The ones above are production versions of ones I've built by hand in my garage. I don't get much time to build anymore, but I still like to see my designs come to life

Cool designs Degs. Any recurring themes, steels, influences in your designs? Digging the micarta on the dagger flipper? Personally I am drawn to playing with different steels, and seeing how they sharpen. M4 is a personal fav. B19BA189-49A2-44B1-9C82-BFFC2439F101.jpg

    Thanks!

No real themes. I try to make them look good both open and closed though. I like 01 steel a lot, but not a great choice for a folder. I've used tons of S30 and S35 in the past.

Thank you. He told me he was moving a customer and it was on top of a grand father clock. Said it wasn't sheathed and was sliding blade first at his face. I don't know wasn't there, just a beautiful free blade!

I own this knife. Like you, I drooled over it after looking at the pictures, so I bought it. I paid a little over $400.00 for it and it's one of my most regretted purchases. The blade when fully extended has quite a bit of slop to it. Most OTF knives do, apparently its an inherent trait. It just makes it feel cheap to me. It's extremely susceptible to dirt and pocket lent. If you don't consistently clean it by blowing it out with air and oiling it, it won't lock into position when you extend it.
I can't count the times I've pulled it out of my pocket and had a penny or dime wedged in the blade opening, one of which actually broke the tip off. For the most part I remember not to put coin in there, but sometimes I forget, or sometimes it's unavoidable (the other pocket holds my phone and I'm not going to put loose change in with that).

Other than opening my Amazon packages and the occasional envelope I can't think of many real world uses where it would come in handy as an EDC knife. Often times I find myself needing to put my thumb on the back of it to cut, which you can't do with this knife.

Just curious what defines a knife price. Other than looks is there something different between a cheap one and a high end one?

Materials and brand name. Like anything else. Many would argue you get what you pay for but not always. I have a ton a cheap knives that are razor sharp and do the trick. Right tool for the right job. I won’t skin a deer with anything but a buck110. Love that knife.

You know, that's a really good question. I just bitched in a previous post about my $400 Benchmade being less than impressive, but I have a $30.00 Schrade, Gerber and Buck that I'm perfectly happy with. My Buck is 30 years old.....gutted my first deer with it, still sharp enough to gut an elk; or a mother fucker.

Like some have said above, materials and quality, but you also sometimes pay a lot for the name. I don't like to pay for a name that does not give me any material benefits.
The way I see it, the $10 knives at flea markets and Walmart etc. are not worth it. Add a little more and buy a $30 to $70 knife. I have Gerbers, Victorinox, and Spidercos in that range that are excellent carry knives. I have $200+ Benchmades, Leathermans etc. which are awesome smooth knives, but in my opinion not worth the extra money for a use-and-abuse knife.
The $60± knives are optimum for me regarding cost/benefit balance.
