I had this problem (whistle) in my 2007 Tacoma for years - then I ran across a post that said K&M air filters caused it...

Sure enough I changed mine out with a stock OEM filter, and then a FRAM... no more whistle..

Yeah I hear mine with light throttle especially when just cruising along at lower speeds. Mine is mostly like a rattling ringing noise, could be normal valvetrain noise, but soon as I give it more throttle I don’t hear anything besides the exhaust

I just chased down a whistling noise that was pretty much exactly what you described. On light acceleration it was pretty audible. I re-torqued my exhausted, shut off my Sprint Booster and checked my battery terminals to make sure everything was good. The whistling seemed to be coming from the passenger side so then it all came to me. Checked on my air box and everything seemed nice and tight but then it dawned one me that it might be the AFE dry drop in filter. I put the Toyota OEM one back in and there it is, the AFE was causing the whistling. I noticed how much bigger the OEM filter is than the AFE. The OEM filter also seems to fit the air box better as well. I’m gonna run the OEM filter for a few days and see how it goes but I think I finally tracked down my whistling issue.

I hear the whistling sound I think more when it's colder outside but not sure as I've got used to it.

I think it's the air flow sound ...

It happens when accelerating ... Was there since new and it sounds cool. I won't be touching or fixing anything since I like it. sounds like a race car or jet taking off :D

Ive noticed this kinda supercharger whine sound on light throttle whther im going 30 or freeway speeds ever since i bought the truck new....now at 8k miles one service later and still same noise continues. not a big deal but i will be bringing it to the dealers attention next time im in...along with the bed rattle issue and slight dash warp problem.

The AFE dry drop in. I figured out that it was the cause of the whistle. Now that I know that, I’ll probably put it back in and when I hear it, I’ll know where it’s coming from and not panic thinking that my transmission is getting ready to explode

Sorry. It’s a drop in air filter.

Just took ours on a road trip for the first time this weekend, and I noticed a little intermittent whistle at freeway speeds. Almost seemed to occur with the cycling of the AC compressor. When the load increased, a little whistle until it clicked off again. Very slight, if I had the radio on, or if I'd had a headwind instead of a tailwind at the time, I'd never have heard it. Come to think of it, I only started hearing it when we got onto some fresh asphalt that had very little road noise. Older, slightly louder surfaces completely drowned it out.

Did you ever take it to the dealer to see if this was an issue? I have the same sound but didn’t know if it was normal or what. Definitely stops when I turn the AC off, starts again when I turn it back on.

I did not. Actually, I must've gotten used to it because it's not been bothering me. We've taken the truck on several road trips since - I'm now just over 10,000 miles on the truck, and no noticeable issues from whatever the whistle was/is.

Same situation here lol. At 12.5k miles and only notice it when the radio is off and we’re at a near stop. Must be normal but if it was an easy fix I’d have the dealer do it at the next appt. Doesn’t affect me that much to care enough and make them dig around for something that’s relatively unnoticeable.
