How many TRD Pro’s does Toyota make each year?

Alright guys so I initially planned on selling my Tacoma and buying a TRD Pro this Spring but with the COVID pandemic this has pretty much put my plan on halt as I work as an ICU nurse and am working a ton of OT to help out my facility.
The real question here is: does Toyota only produce a limited amount of TRD Pros each year? Will I screw myself out of a 2020 Pro if I have to wait a few more months for my life to settle down so I can sell my truck? My Tacoma is pretty heavily modified so it would take awhile for me to either return it to stock or find a buyer who would be willing to meet in the middle for a decent selling price.

There’s usually a number allocated to dealers (1-3) based on their sales volumes.

it’s getting close to end of the model year so I’d guess you are unlikely to get one unless it’s sitting on a lot.

Thanks to you, and to all your medical colleagues, for your service. We'll get through this COVID thing with ya'lls help.

Except for the extra shifts and precautions, the situation may seem somewhat normal in an ICU. That will likely depend on where you live. Those of us hunkering down outside the hospital are seeing the country in a perfect storm with no promise for any individual past today. I won't be making any important decisions or long term commitments until COVID is done. I'm an old guy with heart disease. If I'm careful, I'll always have next year to live..unless I don't.

In your place, I wouldn't add the stress of selling your Tacoma and buying a new TRD on top of everything else you have on your plate. A guy in your position could understandably have exactly the opposite opinion. There will still be TRDs on the other side of this, and your bank account will be fat.

Welcome from the Texas Hill Country.

Thank you guys for the responses! I think I’ll just hold off until the world settles back into place. But yes please stay home if you can afford to! All ICU patients are sick but this COVID stuff is a complete game changer. It’s scary when you don’t really know what you’re fighting against. I will say one positive thing is that here in Arizona it’s definitely not as horrible as NY or WA. I appreciate the feedback!

The only thing that may be a game changer is 84 months at 0% and no payments for 90 days. Who knows how long that will last after we open the country back up?

When I bought my 2016 the annual production for a Pro was 3,000.

Toyota not offering the 0% for 84 months yet -- just deferred payments for 90 days.

A friend of mine went into a Chevy dealer trying to get the special financing on a Camaro. They ended up telling him he didn't qualify for the 84 months, but offered him 72 months with a $750/month payment if he put $1500 down. Made him really uncomfortable because it seemed like bait & switch from what they told him they could do for him over the phone.
Dealers are just using the 0% /84 months to get you in the door-- after that, it's the same "you don't qualify for that" B.S.

This is pretty much the total per year. So having a TRD Pro is pretty special. I remember talking with a Toyota executive here in DFW while in meeting and at the time I just bought my TRD Pro. Dealers are only allocated based on the total number of sales. If a dealer has 2 or 3 it means the dealership is doing good. So if a dealer say he can get one for you, I would keep this in mind. A dealer must be able to sell so many numbers of trucks to Qualify to put in an order AND the choice of the color. I got lucky and mine for 2019 was the 28th one in production and the 8th one in blue in queue for production. Took 2 months from time to get in the queue to me to actually driving it off lot. I think by the time this blows over, you will be able to get one sitting somewhere in america. And I'm sure you will get it under MSRP as the time is not so bright for auto industry or any industry.

I've seen 5 or 6 2020 pros on the lot at my local dealership here in my small town in Idaho. About the same with the 2019's. I honestly don't think they are rare or unicorns but that's me. If I wanted to buy one I've had multiple chances. A white 2019 sat for close to 3 months. I almost pulled the trigger but decided to keep mine. They wanted my 2018 Sport plus 10,000. I couldn't justify the 10,000 when mine is paid off. Sweet trucks for sure and I probably would have bought one if they made a pro in 2018.

So get us some Juicy details.

Just what is your buddy's reported credit score?

I mean that's what pretty much determines which "best" deal one gets, no?

I'm pretty sure most every Great Deal is only for folks with an 800+ score...860 here....

In my area...I'm not kidding, 30% of the active tundra stock are PROs. All I see are Pros and low trim. Nothing in between actively. There are so many sitting around me unsold.

Cash is king if you discounts. Cash purchases usually come with manufacturer incentives , like right now its $4000 rebate before even negot at dealer which is another few grand off on top of that. Cash only though. Not available for lease or finance for this rebate here in Canada.

No one leaving their homes. No jobs to pay for their homes..so what is the priority?

The Pros do not sell well here , theres so many around , always has been before Covid -19. Bunch of 2019s also still floating around.

At $80K CAD after taxes and fees...these trucks have always been hard to sell.

Didnt know you were in Canada. Different markets different tastes. Canada gets some items added to the Pro vs US ones. Ex: For 2019 you guys got the heated ventilated seats.

So my buddy got back to me . With his work hours getting cut due to the Caronavirus, he had called his mortgage company to inquire if they offered anything to lessen the burden over the next few months. He was just looking for info in case things got rough. It turns out that his mortgage company went ahead and put him on a program where he didn't have to make a payment for the next 3 months and would not be charged any late fees but they end up reporting this to the credit bureaus as a forbearance. When he told me, I couldn't believe it. Who the heck would sign up for that? You basically pooch your credit!!
So now, I am guessing that when he went to the dealership, his "A" credit history was trashed by the forbearance.
He is now making calls to his mortgage company trying to get everything reversed.
I guess the moral of the story is that if you are going to make that type of inquiry with your mortgage company or any creditor, you need to make sure that they understand that you are looking for info only-- and not to change anything.
