Mountun Goat’s Anatomy Thread

Yesterday I was looking at my old ass headlights and thought, they are so crappy I should try and repair them. If I wreck them, it’s not a major loss, if they end up nice- saves me drooling over new headlights for a bit longer. So I pulled out a heat gun and got to work. I sprayed the housings with satin black. I also wired in signal resistors so I can run led signal bulbs. These old led bulbs are near garbage so just testing with them. I ordered new amber led signal bulbs and led conversion hi/lows. I am now waiting for the glue to harden back up, then I’ll silicone the outer edge of the lens seams. I did this same process for an old truck of mine and the lights were good for three winters before I sold the truck.
Just need to get to the store for a lens restore kit.

Well I got the front end back in place so I can run to the store for lens polish kit. As you can tell, I installed a new to me eBay grill as well.

I got to run the truck I through the truck wash as the horse trailer needed it. I also picked up a headlight restore kit, and windshield brow tint. Im excited for my led lights to come in!

 

Well I finished the lens restoration. The lenses didn’t come out the greatest, but I’ll take it for 12 year old plastic. I installed amber led signals and some Amazon led conversion bulbs. They look bright af so far, I’m wondering the legality of these now that I own them haha.

Thanks, yes I do need to paint the entire truck so a nice bumper will match though haha. It shall come soon hopefully

 

I suppose I should update. I started the roof rack/spare tire holder finally. Hoping to get some more time on it this weekend. I got the main roof rack frame tacked in place. Next, we’ll be the rear upright supports and the top railing frame of the rack. I’m so excited I’m even gunna eat popcorn for this one haha

 

I also installed the oe Toyota emblem onto the grill. I couldn’t get into the ‘new’ grill without some Toyota badging!

 

Starting figuring the rear upright, then continued forward with a side rail. I will fab a matching one for the other side next. It’s starting to look like some thing

I finished the driver side railing. Then, managed to get to the fab shop before the last guy left to buy the rack floor metal. Then, I got about half way through building the passenger side upright and railing. Been a good day so far! I’m liking the way it’s looking.

 

Got the main structure tacked late last night. It’s looking seriously rad!

 

I got the rack on the truck yesterday to check dimensions before welding it out. I’m very excited on this project

Got a bit more on the roof rack last night. I added a couple more pieces, and got the majority of it’s welded. Happy Easter meester
