    This thread is super helpful.

I'm wondering- with 6112 at 1.9", will adding two CB .5" shims driver and one CB .5" shim passenger make it likely I need new UCA (trying to avoid new UCA)? That should yield approx 2.4" lift up front, right?

I know some run into trouble with 6112 at 2.5" for alignment. Not sure if the shims have the same effect on alignment as cranking the 6112s up do.

Thanks for all of the help. Goal is 305s with rock warrior wheels and largest spacer with no BMC (hoping for approx et18). Threading the needle with that it seems. LOL. Want them sitting wide. Getting pumped!

Idk how to tag people but r1-superstar and Flyinryank have similar set ups.

Interesting question if using shims for some height effects the alignment with the Uca's?

I would say that there would be no difference. The shims make the coilover assembly longer at the top, and adjusting the perch up makes it longer at the bottom. If the shims are the same thickness as the difference in perch adjustments, then there should be no difference. The total distance between bottom and top mounting points are the same. It's like the story about cutting a few inches off the bottom of your blanket to sew to the top because your shoulders are cold....

Yes it will. I installed 5100s at top setting, two shims on driver's side and one on passenger's side; I was maxed out on alignment (caster) adjustments and had to install aftermarket UCAs.

    No.
has anyone here gone from trd performance shocks, red and blue stock to 6112s . I had a 19 sr5 base suspension and my wife totaled that truck and so i found the same truck but with sport package. Its sweet. Now it needs to go up and wheels and tires. I have noticed a big difference in ride quality between the two trucks. some i am sure is from the addition of the sway bar but im looking to switch from the red ad blues to 6112 top setting but want to make sure ride is as good if not better. opinions?

Just had to remove the mud flaps and push forward front liner a bit. Nothing major at all. I love it!

I have had my 6112’s / 5160’s for a few weeks now and today marked a noticeable improvement. The ride was quite firm with 20-40 degree temps and 240lbs of sand in the back with a topper. Today I pulled out 120lbs of the sand and the temps were close to 70. Not sure what the biggest contributor was, but the ride was much more compliant than it has been. It has been pretty firm, though not uncomfortably so. I was very pleased with the ride comfort today.

I am waiting on some wheels (should be here tomorrow) and will be throwing on some 285 75 17 KO2’s. Seeing these other recent pics isn’t helping calm my excitement. Can’t wait!!

Added mine a week ago. Seems like they handle a little better so far. added some method 18s and 275 70 falkens. Need to move the inner front liner up a bit. Feels much more stable on rough roads. I can see why toyota doesn’t put bigger tires from the factory, seems like so much variance in all them with even small size changes.

Sweet set up. I have virtually the same thing. I have rubbing on the cab mount on the driver's side. It only happens at a certain degree turn when flexed. You running into any rubbing issues with cab mount?

To be honest, I haven’t had it setup long enough to turn while flexed! I do rub the mud flap “pad” at almost full lock in reverse, but I will keep any eye out for addition rubbing. FWIW, my tires measure around 33” on the vehicle. I was a little bummed, but I don’t think I could handle more tire without cutting or compromising.

Yeah, I added bumper shims and trimmed the heck out of the front liner. I went up a mountain trail last week and it confirmed what I thought happened on the road once in a while with the cab rub. And yes, it is a full wheel well at 1.9. But I am thinking with a cab mount chop, 34-35 would be doable. That decision is a ways off from me as I just got these tires in December, 3300 miles on them. But I am getting the cmc ASAP which opens up future options.

I just installed all my gear seen below including the 6112's at the top setting. I've seen many of you talk about the 6112's "settle in" and losing some height over time. I'm hoping that happens because I personally don't like how much lift I have after installing them. If they don't settle in I can always opt to change the ride height down to the 1.9 slot but we'll see. Thoughts?image-20200306_122837.jpg IMG_20200218_184820.jpg

That's probably what I'm going to be doing here real soon as well. Somehow the front end of my truck is now 5" higher than stock (36.5" completely stock to 41.5" ground to fender). When I do the math, the truck should only be ~40¼" between the 6112s maxed out and larger tires (295/70/18 which are 33.3" in diameter). I ordered the 6112s preassembled so I believe they're put together properly. I'm still scratching my head a little. These are not going to settle that much so I'll be looking to drop down to the 1.9 slot.

That's the quoted manufacturer size but they're not even close to that. Tires are usually ~1" smaller in diameter when they're installed and under load. Go find the thread about the Cooper AT3 XLT tires and you'll find lots of conversation about it. Look up what your tires are "supposed" to be and then go measure them. I bet they're smaller than you expect. IMG_20200124_160517.jpg
