I'm running 305/65-18s on Ray 10s +25mm. Check my sig for specs. I removed the front flap and heated up the rear and front of the inner fender liner. No bmc. If you are looking for level, you are nose high right now. Going to 2.5" and a 1" shackle might still be nose high.

Rock Auto has 6112's for $578.89. Is this because they are not a full assembly?

I used this as a reference when deciding on coilover height and tire size. Some on there running wheel spacers some not (not opposed to Bora or Spidertrax). Thought hard about the 1.9" and shims to run 295/70 but didn't really want to take a risk so I chose the 1.9, no shims, and 275/70.

What does anyone know about these? My shop seems quite confident in them.

Need some help, in the middle of installing 6112 at 1.3 setting.

Starting on the driver's side. I got the new 6112 shock in and everything bolted back up. I used a jack under the lower control arm to help reconnect the upper control arm. Truck is supported on Jack stands though.

Once everything was bolted back up I started to lower the jack from the lower control arm to put the wheel back on and finish up that side, but it looks like the whole assembly is trying to droop way too far to the ground. So I stopped and jacked it back up a little

It came down so far I wouldn't be able to install the wheel without jacking the whole truck higher. Didn't think this would be the case since o ly 1.3 inch lift.

So am I missing something? I really feel like something will get damaged if I take all the pressure off from the jack holding up the lower control arm

The only thing I can think of is I had to loosen one of the cam bolts to get the new shock in place but I tightened that back up (maybe just not enough)?

I guess the two things concerning me is how low the hub looks like it's going when I take the jack down and also how far down the UCA is starting to droop.

BTW, I referenced this video since it was my first time doing this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iH7FQUjmu20

Might be a little different since it involves unbolting the UCA

A buddy installed 6112s/5160s. I opted for 1.3 setting- I have the dreaded lean. I am going to put driver side at 1.9 and see how it goes- anyone have experience with similar? After I get front dialed in in terms of height I will figure which size shackle. I have a CB+2 but I believe I will need a +1 to "level". Debating the following tire sizes on Method 701s (17 x 8.5 0 offset): 305/65r17, 285/70r17, 295/70r17 (BFG KO2). Primary concern is performance minimal loss of HP. Greatful for your sharing of experience and knowledge.

To post 919, show pics if you can, but if everything is connected then you’re fine. I had to jack mine higher than I was expecting.

920, I had the exact same “issue”, as have most others. Unfortunately mine showed big after the install was done, And had to redo my drivers side. Use the CB shim, definitely do NOT set the 6112s at different settings.

    361D70B0-7406-4651-A462-BE4A61FB810F.jpg

This is 1.3”, CB +1. Looks “level” on most surfaces, measures .5” higher in the rear. When I hook my boat up it measure perfectly level.

Appreciate it. I will be proceeding with staggering "preload". Have you done this before? It will definitely be an an experiment. I will keep posted on how it goes. Your truck looks sweet- what size tires are those? 285/70r17? Thanks again.

I did quite a bit of research before doing my set up and don’t recall seeing anyone who set 6112’s/5100’s at different heights to account for the lean. Big internet though, I’m sure someone will chime in who has. I try not do unnecessary experiments lol. From my perspective, multiple companies developed a shim to correct the issue and fine tune ride heights, must be a reason for that. I went vanilla and ran 275’s. I wanted to impact MPG/drivability as little as possible. Either way, hope you get your truck tuned exactly how you want, and enjoy it!

I would highly suggest against doing this. You run the risk of losing control and not having proper dampening. Use spacers to correct lean.

love the truck! I also will be installing ray 10’s this week. I also went with 285/70/18. Do you have anything in the rear?

Thanks again for the input. I am beginning to second guess staggering heights; funny thing is my original plan was to set at 1.9 with 2 shims driver 1shim passenger and CB+2 shackle in the rear; I have the parts in my garage. I reckon its easy to just have buddy instal one shim

I just went to install the passenger side shock but it wasn't going in the LCA slot. I notice the arrow on the top hat is not in line with the shock body. It's off by several degrees.

I'm guessing I need a spring compressor to fix this. I bought these pre assembled from Boss so I don't have one.

    Any thoughts?

Hey everyone. Going with 6112 at 1.9”. Wondering about Coachbuilder shims- will the extra height of 2 driver side/ 1 passenger side help me with clearance for when I get wheel spacers (vs just one on driver side)?

    Stock height rear.

Looking to push my Rock Warrior wheels out without a CMC :) currently stock suspension on 34s. Hoping to throw the 6112s on and 1.5” spacers but will probably have to go 1.25”.

You should be able to install the top and with a large crew driver or metal bar align the bottom of the shock body. Essentially rotating the lower portion. You may be able to do the same before installing it but you’ll have more leverage and know exactly how you need to align it.

Thanks! Just the 5160’s. May add a CB or Toytec Shackle down the road.

Was able to align the shock no problem. Got it done and took a short drive. I'll measure where I'm at soon but looking to see where it settles.

All in all, the install is a little annoying but definitely would take 2-3 hrs max of I had to do it again. I posted the video I kind of followed but for me I think the key was to loosen the forward cam bolt so the LCA can drop enough to get the shock out and new one in. The video didn't say anything about that.

There's definitely a few steps where you could really mess something up, mainly cross threading bolts. So of you are used to wrenching in general it's no problem. Just take your time on the first go.

Nice. I’m on 305s as well. What trimming needed to be done up front, if any? Did you have to do a CMC? Thanks in advance

Alright here are before measurements stock vs 6112 on day 1. This is on a 17 crewmax trd offroad but I am a little loaded down with gear. Wondering where this will settle but looks like if I want to correct lean if need to raise the rear already which I was hoping to avoid.

Measurements with OEM tires almost ready for replacement, ground to fender

    FD FP
    RD RP

    Before:
    36.7 36.8
    38.1 38.7

    6112:
    37.75 38.5
    37.8. 38.75

What do you guys think? The rear are off from each other too but I guess correcting the front would also put the rear more even to each other? If I add a shim I guess I'd need to go ahead with +1 for the rear?

Will do. I'll let it settle for a week first. I've seen some people measure from hub. I just figured the nose high appearance would be due to the ground to fender. Anyways, I basically gained 1" on driver side and 1.2 passenger before it settles. So not much different than before.

Ya, wondering if I just need to go with a shim. I'd have to go with shackles for the rear already though. I have about 340 lbs of weight in the bed.

Will the shim on front driver also help lower the rear passenger to even out closer to the rear driver?
