What’s going on everyone. I’m just spending the next couple hours at Wilsonville Toyota while they try to figure out what the weird noise my truck is making while coasting/slowing down from 15’ish mph.
It’s always made this weird wind whirling noise. Master tech says to the advisor “I have no idea what that is. Never heard a Tundra do that. Going to need to put a couple guys in the bed to see if it’s rear end or transmission noise.” This should be fun.

Not really. More like a wheel bearing or something rubbing. But only at parking lot speeds. And not during acceleration.

The only time I have ever heard anything like it was years ago a friend had a rear end going out and you could hear a faint noise that would match the tire revolution or probably more accurately the gears making noise.

    Kinda hoping that’s not it.

my 15 never made that sound or if it did I couldn’t hear it due to the 35’s.

Diagnosing stuff like that is horrible. Sometimes the noise is still there, but drowned out by the road or wind at higher speeds. My F150 had a 4wd problem that sounded like a low rumble at 20mph but if it happened at highway speeds sounded like metal shudders flapping in the wind. Spent over a year with two dealerships trying to fix it. Neither had a clue (no surprise) until I found a TSB for them to use.

    Good luck...

Yeah I hear that. Back in 2011 I had an F250 with the death wobble. I spent thousands trying to fix it before I said screw it and traded it in on my new Tacoma.
I’m being patient with them today. I just randomly called and they had an open appointment for three minutes later. I was just in the other side of I5 waiting for Costco to open so I hauled ass to Toyota.
They said they would see what they could do in two hours. Since they didn’t have a loaner.
They verified the noise exists. Now I’m taking it back tomorrow morning and leaving it all day and getting a loaner. My biggest concern was getting it documented. Now if the rear end blows up tomorrow at least I had it in there for a noise they verified.

We were out exploring and found a cool grist mill with a covered bridge. Enjoyed watching them grind cornmeal. It's located SE of Woodland and NW of Amboy.

I've heard about that place. Always wanted to check it out. Those pic make it a must-see destination.

That was my first thought too. We should plan a rally there. Bet a few Tundras in front of that bridge would look amazing

Well day 2 at Toyota. Second tech this morning verified the noise exists. Now I’m gonna be rolling a Yaris. :censored:.

At least tomorrow’s visit here is just for the wife’s 4Runner first 5k.

yeah I thought the same thing. Last time I had my other Tundra in I got a Tundra as a loaner.

it’s been a bit of a cluster so far. Of course the guys that were there yesterday have today and tomorrow off. So basically had to start over again. Luckily that only took a couple minutes.

They tried to get a bit lippy this morning about the loaner and maybe not having one. I said that’s not my problem. I was here first and you guys have given out at least three while you try to figure out the paperwork. I don’t care what I’m leaving in as long as it has 4 seats.

trying to be patient with them for now.

Well just called to get an update. Not what I would have thought. But they are saying it needs a new transfer case. This truck has never been in 4wd. Now I am waiting to see if they are gonna get a new one fast enough to keep my truck or give it back while we wait for parts.

will do. It has made this sound since the day I bought it. I didn’t want to take it in and start this back and forth. I was expecting a bit more of a problem with them but I have to say so far I’m impressed. Only 4,8xx miles and getting big warranty work. Oh well that’s what it’s for. We are on Toyota 5 & 6 in a row and this is the first issue we have had.

Me either. But they appear to be pretty sure that’s what it is. Probably just something that didn’t get assembled right.

Any of you local peeps need a leather steering wheel? I upgraded the one on my Pro, bought a couple from junkyards sight unseen and I have an extra. It was 200 shipped to me, all I ask is the same. Looks dang near new to me. I'm in Salem.

Looks like the F150 I traded at the dealership back in October finally sold. They dropped the online price below what they gave me for trade. Add in the flooring and inventory costs and they lost some money on that one. Makes my deal for the truck look even better.:headbang:

So, if anyone has a friend driving a beautiful 2016 silver F150 that they bought at Michael's Bellevue Toyota, please let them know I wish them well with the truck...

Hello, We're looking for a small home (less than 1,500 square feet) for sale on water within 200 miles of Seattle. Prefer 1 to 10 acres of wooded land. $500K is our budget. We're currently staying in our 5th wheel trailer near Battle Ground, WA but will consider all areas. If any one know of a property I'd appreciate the lead. Thanks, Kevin

Salt or fresh water? Small town or near a bigger city (other than Seattle)?

I hate to say this, but your budget might not get you very far if you have to live right on the water. That stuff is hard to come buy these days anywhere. My folks have a place up near the Canadian border that's pretty amazing. They're near Birch Bay, so look around there and Blaine. Great area that's pretty quiet overall and about 90 minutes from Seattle (w/o traffic).

Another area to check is out on the Olympic peninsula. Port Ludlow to Port Hadlock to start, but spread out from there.

Thanks for the suggestions. We'd prefer a river then lake with salt last. I agree our budget is tight. We'd prefer a small community or near one.

Well, a river view is going to offer you more options so that's a good thing. A few other things to ponder:
    1) Does 200 miles imply a time duration for driving? Because travel to/from Seattle is going to be a nightmare. Going any direction from Seattle can be nasty, so think about total travel time too.
    2) What about climate? I-90 provides direct and generally fairly easy access to Seattle. Going over the pass (East) gives you a completely different climate. Cle Elum and East is going to be hotter in the summer and colder in the winter, but property is much cheaper.
    3) I'm guessing there are a ton of places down near you that might fit the bill. Anything south of Olympia has promise I bet, but I don't know that region very well. Check near Enumclaw and Buckley too. Those areas have had massive sprawl the past decade, but might still be some gems out there.
    4) Highway 20 going east from 1-5 has a ton of small towns along the way and follows a few rivers.
