Disable tss and pcs?

Still haven’t purchased my tundra yet, but doing all my homework so when I get it I have the info. (I do much research before any purchase) but has anyone found a way to permanently (so when you shut your truck off and back on) turn of the tss and pcs on the 2018’s. I’ve read a quite few complaints about them especially when lifting.

 

If I’m not mistaken I don’t think it can be turned off even if you have it off the tss will act up mine has popped up randomly in heavy rain.

 

Crazyness ... there’s a lot of smart people on here so hopefully one of them will figure out a way and make some type of wiring harness for a simple plug and play or something. It doesn’t discourage me from a tundra but def not a fan of all the safety shit that’s why people don’t know how to drive anymore lol. I’ve read too that the manuals states the trucks not to be lift, like wtf really especially within the Tacoma community that’s a big thing a lot of people do why make a truck you ‘can’t’ lift

 

I asked my dealer to lift my truck they had no issues doing it in fact I think a lot of people have already lifted the 18s without any issues plus there has to be a way to do it considering the 19 TRD Pro is lifted and will have the tss

 

Ya I’ve read mixed post, some people say they have no problems others say they do . I guess I’ll find out once I find one. But I’d still be interest in a permant disable option when someone finds one

 

I’m sure there’s a way to disable it. I just think people don’t want to mess with brand new trucks and be guinea pigs for something like that.

 

Mine is a 2018 and the dealer lifted it. No issues yet (6,000 miles).

 

I habe a 2018 with 6 inch lift, and when I hit 1000 miles, my PCS Malfunction light and message has stayed on. Currently at 1,372 miles, and dealer is still working on the kinks. I’ve taken it back twice so far. Supposedly there is a bracket to put the sensor in the correct position, but it isn’t Toyota Certified yet, so dealers aren’t able to warranty the work. Even when i cut mine off, it comes back on within 30 seconds. I’ve also unplugged it, and still doesn’t stay off.

 

Had to take my 2018 in for a software recall update. At the time I asked if he could do two things (one I knew he could do, no clue on the second).

I asked him if he could disable the pesky seat belt beeper (he could) and to permanently disable the PCS system (he couldn't). I have gotten very quick at turning it off each time I start the truck.

Update- my truck spent 3 days at Toyota dealer and they aren’t allowed to actually move the sensor. The maximum height your sensor can be from the ground is 39.37 inches. With the 6 inch lift, mine is at 44.5 inches. I’ve found someone who is going to put a bracket behind the grill that will drop the sensor, and then recalibrate it. $650 at Toyota dealership. The other dealership will be paying for it. He said they can fix it, since they aren’t the dealer that lifted it, but I will Have to sign a waiver.

I have done some research on this as well and echoing comments that I haven't heard of anyone that's figured a way to turn it off completely.

My dealer has given me the green light to lift without voiding any warranty, but recommended no higher than 3", that would make sense of having some sort of maximum height like @khead23 has mentioned. I have also heard rumors of Toyota being able to recalibrate the sensor (not sure if this is true).

 

They can’t recalibrate the sensor on a 6 inch lift for sure. They tried 3 times on mine. The only fix is to drop the sensor lower, using a bracket, and then recalibrating it.

Had my 2018 since end of last year and have had no issues with TSS system the whole time. I feel for these guys who have had non stop issues. Not a huge fan of the radar cruise though and glad it can be turned off and used as a regular cruise when ever I want.

 

It doesn’t look like you have a lift on yours though. There hasn’t been as many issues with the nonlifted. A simple reprogramming or sensor replace has fixed those issues.

I truly don't believe it's a height issue with the failed sensor , mine had a level kit on it from the dealer no issues until 3k miles. Took it back 3 times got corporate involved and they finally replaced the sensor. (At that time there was a wait due to amount of issues on others) today hit 8k miles and now sensor issues again. I will we could delete it

 

There are 18s with TSS failures both with and without lifts.

There is a higher population of modified trucks on a forum. Therefore, there are more threads about TSS failures on lifted trucks.

Correlation without causation. (Also, lifted 2018 here, no issues)

 

Wait, what? How do you turn off Radar Cruise and just use regular cruise control?!

 

Just buy a 2017
