I suggest getting under that thing with a hammer or large metal object and start poking at the frame. Look for any rot or anything covering up rot. Poke at all the sides of the C channel frame. Also when was the last time it had the timing belt changed.

Along with that the differential housing can rot out. I do see quite a bit of surface rust. Hopefully that’s all it is.

Timing belt and water pump have not been changed, I was going to bring that up to the dealer in hopes of getting a little shaved off. @15whtrd

Did Carfax report show that it had the CRC frame kit applied in 2014 ? It had somewhat decent service performed at Dealership up until 2009 and then petered out. You can register the vehicle at Toyota and see the service history by adding the VIN.

CarFax shows a trip to the Toyota dealer on 1/30/14 where it was serviced but doesn't say anything about the CRC frame kit. @BubbaW

The pic I posted above shows the VIN # that I got from that cars.com link you posted in your first post and that pic is showing that trip on 1/30/14 and the CRC was applied. I added the VIN# temporarily to my Toyota account, which lets one see the Service History. The Service History report(pdf file attached above) for that VIN # shows the history which includes the Limited Service Campaign CRC recall performed on that vehicle on 1/30/14.

I gotcha, is the CRC kit cause for concern? Or was it precautionary? I intend to do all I can to extend the life should I purchase but I live in Iowa (Colorado <2 years) and realize pristine frames are far out of reach.

Personally have no clue other than what others have reported. Mine has fortunately lived in surroundings that while not 100% new looking frame for 16 yr old, it has very little if any frame rust nor rot. If possible, I would do as @15whtrd suggested and beat on that sucker. I would even let the dealer know you are very interested but you wish to have it raised so you can walk underneath, if insurance allows. From the pics you show, it's not in too bad a shape but I'm a couch potato and got no hammer on it.

That frame looks pretty clean to me...but only way to know for sure if the CRC kit was precautionary would be to inspect it in person. The one concerning thing is this..."FRAME HAS PERFORATION REP" is REP short for REPAIR? I would call Green Toyota and ask them to look at the repair order number see if they could tell you exactly what that means. It's worth a shot...that truck looks clean, but it's not cheap.

I will be sure to do that when I see it person, being 5'6" I'll have no issue sliding under. @15whtrd mentioned parts of the C channel frame and diff housing in particular, if you had the time could you show me where there those spots are located? I have no experience but am very eager to learn and appreciate the help.

Yeah I suppose, he lowered the price first call but I will see if the unchanged timing belt/water pump could get me more.

Whatever you do, if the frame seems solid and all boxes check yes, just take care of the frame from there on out. Drop the spare tire check all the bracing to the bed and crossmembers etc. Then maybe yearly treat your frame to some type of rust prevention. Don’t let the dealer spray their bullshit all over it if you can help it. i’m definitely not an expert on rust prevention, as I don’t deal with it here in California. But I did spray my truck once with fluid film.
