    2002 Toyota Tundra TRS
    Hello Fellow Tundra owners. I have a 2002 4wd Tundra with only 50000 miles. All in all the truck has been great. That said, starting a few years ago, I’ve been experiencing an intermittent problem that prevents me from locking the truck and hence setting the alarm.

    Specifically, about every 10th time I arrive at my destination, turn off the truck and open the driver’s door, the truck emits beeps and I can neither lock the truck nor set the alarm. Usually I can restart the truck and move it about a foot after which everything works fine.

    I suspected the ignition switch and replaced it but the problem persists. I’m now suspect of an intermittent door switch but before replacing it I thought I’d ask folks on this forum for advice.

    Welcome from SoCal! I had a 2002 4x4 (original owner, purchased in Feb 2002) till a year ago. Think that was the first year they had the LSD rear. Mine had it, it came in handy more than a few times. Amazing truck, yes? Just goes and goes. I miss mine but two trucks for one of me made no sense. I was excited to have a new truck after almost two decades but when the reality set in that I needed to sell my beloved 2002 I was quite sad about it. But am glad that someone who could not spend more can now be driving a good truck.
    Your issue almost sounds as if it does not think it's in PARK. Truck maybe thinks you took the key out of the ignition when it's in neutral or something... I think there is a switch that senses you are in park. Just a gut feeling there on that.
