I put clear PPF (paint protection film) on all of my vehicles headlights, for the specific purpose of eliminating fogging / yellowing of the headlights due to sun damage. I have used pre-cut vehicle-specific kits from Xpel, 3M and weathertech, all with good results. Essentially a permanent fix. Provides a small amount of extra protection from rocks, but not much. I did not install PPF myself on my Tundra, I just had my window tint guy do it while he was tinting my front two windows.

On a related note, I miss the glass lenses of older vehicles versus the plastic they use now. Hazy headlights lenses are a fairly new phenomenon...

Installed my new Tyger brush guard on Christmas Day, and installed all new Rockford Fosgate speakers in all 4 doors yesterday. Nice thing is, they were basically "plug and play" using the stock speaker mounts and only splicing the wires from the speaker to the female connector located on the speaker mounts. Kept the original plugs from the wiring harness to the speaker connector stock. LED fog lights for the brush guard are coming tomorrow!!!

I did the Rockford's as well in mine. The sound quality of those greatly improved after a couple weeks. Guess they need a good break in period.

I'll have to try that. So far I've just managed to be d back the slightly caved in fender bear the door. When I bought the truck the pass door trim did t match and the step was crushed so to a collisions was the culprit. Just gotta work it out. It has improved since adjusting the sheet metal on the fender though

definitely your bulbs. The one you are currently using is mostly used for fog lights.

Where did you end up connecting the high beams too?

There were a few 3m products I kept seeing. I think Scotchgard and vivvid or something like that were pretty popular. Either way I agree it seems like a decent way to keep from sandblasting the housings or having them yellow in a couple years. My last housings were out in the desert 1 time and already had scratches. Nothing I really care about, but it puts it into perspective how much stuff hits them.
That's why I had the hid kit from 5 or so years ago to steal the bulbs from haha. I used a bixenon specific hid kit with a harness that plugs into the headlight socket and Ts the position and negative high beam wires to each side. Both the projectors and the harness had cheesy connectors so I used some weatherpack style connectors. You could probably just plug into the headlight socket on each side too.

One thing I wish I'd done was heat shrink the high beam wires when I sealed them to the housing. They are just so tiny and I could see them getting hurt by something. I wrapped them in tesa tape in hopes to not further regret my lack of forethought.

I’ve heard good things about the PPF, but didn’t know they came precut, or I never bothered looking for the 4runner because the lights have a lot of demension. The detail guru in the local 4runner group recommends and does a lot of ceramic coating to help seal and protect the plastic/lense.

I have this problem with all my doors. I may try tackling it someday but it looks like one of those issues where you run into the law of diminishing returns rather quickly.

Got the Noico project done just as the sun went down. I pulled the speakers and applied it behind them. I went on Noico's website and of course they say to cover every square inch. I probably could have covered more because I still have a lot left. I didn't realize a box would go this far. I'll pull the rear seat next. If I have more left after that, I'll go back over spots I missed or do some of the floor.

Hows it sound? Doors close like Lexus? Truck sound system $3000 more expensive? Gurls coming out of wood works?

Doors definitely sound better when they close but not as good as some describe. Probably because I didn't cover as much. The stereo sounds a lot better though. My wife came out as I was finishing and we both sat and listened. She wants me to do her Rav4 next.

Do you remember how to remove the rear seat? I've not looked that hard yet. How many bolts on each side?

sorry, I meant the projector flipper connectors if that makes sense? The ones that come directly off the projector.

I do it for a living. I’ve made tons of money on the side doing lift kits and lowering springs with this bad boy. Was 750 bucks but it paid for itself within 2-3 jobs

@FirstGenVol my approach on sound deadening has always been to worry about flat areas most. Areas of curved metal dont tend to reverb much so they're last priority to me.

Back seat removal is lift the seat parts up to lock, 4 or 5 small bolts (12 or 13mm) along the bottom. Then swing the whole assembly outward from the bottom and lift. The top is just held in by hooks. It's pretty heavy, a second pair of hands makes it easier but I've done it solo a few times.

I used some weatherpack style 2 wife connectors on those. I just ran the wire through the bottom hole left from the old bulb in the housing and I used the 3m poly to seal it.

The light output is great. I had to adjust them up a bit and I thought it was too far. I parked on the side of the road and walked away from the truck and as soon as I was 10' from the truck it was apparent that I wouldn't blind anything taller than maybe 3.5'. As with all projectors, I may get flashed on a bumpy road as my headlights aim up and down, but under normal conditions it looks I have daytime running lights from the front. I guess I got the passenger side a little crooked, but it isn't too bad. I may fix it one day if I'm in the mood to remove my headlights and reglue the projector mount. I'm thinking I'll be just fine living with my already vastly improved light quality.
    A- it isn't perfect, but I'm happy.
B- unless something changes I'm not going back to conventional headlights.
C- I may still do the 55w ballasts.

Anyone with the billies and taco springs have a very slight bow in the spring? I’m not worried about it, just curious if it’s common.

I had a blazer, had to replace the door hinge bushings as the doors began to sag enough to start causing latching issues. Open your door all the way & see if it has up/down wiggle. check the paint around the hinge for signs of movement of the hinge plate.
