Hello. Was a longtime Tacoma guy until they changed design. New gen not enough head room. Anyway, I switched to chevy. Mistake. Am now looking to get into a Tundra. Local dealer is offering me a 2020 Tundra 4x4 Double Cab Limited TRD with factory spray in liner for $41,500. Down from $48, 750. Should I consider this a good deal? Thank you very much ahead of time. Bob

I think that $7250 off MSRP is a good deal. I could only do $5500 off $52050 MSRP for my Platinum.

I should clarify I will still have to pay Maine sales tax on top of this price. About 2000

I would say "YES" good deal.

Go buy it. Post photos back here.

if you think you might get wobbly if they pressure you on an extended warranty then speak up.

I've always gotten extended warrantees. Is that a bad idea? I've also always been able to cash in the unused part if I trade before they are up.

Extended warranties are straight money makers for dealers it's why they push them so hard, they can sometimes make more money selling people crazy warranties than they did on the vehicle sale. Once the deal is done on a vehicle I say no to everything else extra, it's all just fluff for them.

Seems like a killer deal to me as well. That’s only 6k more than I paid for a 1 year old CPO with ~10k miles!

Just as a sanity check, I use Edmunds and build the truck. It shows you the MSRP and dealer cost. I found it helpful.

Buy it, you’ll love it. I have the same truck but it’s a 19.

I was able to get just under $7k off my ‘19 Platinum. So I say yeah, that’s a good deal.

I’d opt to have Line-X bedliner done afterwards tho instead of factory. So I’d probably negotiate some more.

There is a dealer who advertises on here and will sell the extended warranty for like $1200 instead of $3500. I can’t recall the name so you’ll have to do some digging.
Dodge is offering 15k off their new trucks so I’d say half that off of a Toyota is money well spent.

About the extended warranty - just tell the Finance guy “No” repeatedly. Even after he makes you a “great offer”. You have until the factory 3 yr/36k mi warranty expires to think about an EW. Then you can shop around and get a deal for it on your terms - not the dealers. After all, it is your money so you should buy things on your terms not theirs!

I made this critical mistake early in my car buying life and didn’t know at the time you can and should shop around for extended warranties - don’t let the high pressure tactics at the time of buying your new rig play on your emotions. That’s how they get you and it is pure profit hence the reason for the high pressure tactics.

Thanks to all. Am getting truck but dealer now getting squirrely on my trade in. Boggling how they like to keep changing deal. May have to go with different dealer. Further away but even better deal. We shall see. I feel like I need to hire a vicious lawyer and an accountant with very thick glasses to buy a vehicle these days. On a side note, post seems to have been hijacked in a good way. I feel like a bit of a chump buying extended warrantee on my Silverado. But now I know. Thanks again and Happy Holidays to all. Pit the two dealers against each other. Get the deal from one bring it to the other and ask them to beat it, if they do, go back to the other and do the same until one taps out.

About the trade in, go get a Carmax offer or equivalent. They are often better than trade in offers. They can match it or not, it gives you options.

Just one of the many mind games dealers play. They give you a good deal on the new vehicle then low ball you on the trade.

Do what others suggest, try CarMax or even Vroom (I sold a car on Vroom and got what I thought was a great deal to me - matched my bottom line price I wanted to sell it on Craigslist and didn’t have to leave my house)

Yes. This is what I am doing. And have been since beginning. That said, I am partial to one because it is closer and they actually have a good fair honest service dept. They deal with my wife's tacoma.

You can buy at the other dealership and service it at the closer one. It doesn't have to be serviced where you bought it.
