Has anybody else had this problem? It seems that every time I come from park down to reverse it just skips right over and goes to neutral. Then i have to go backup into reverse. It's really annoying. Thanks in advance.

It will happen to me if I’m not paying attention. But I’ve gotten used to it, you need to make sure you pull towards yourself to get it over the notch which will help with it skipping past it.

I had the same troubles in my last truck when I first got it. After about a year either I got used to it, or it wore itself in, because I didn't have that issue nearly as often.

Easy workaround. When parking, shift to N, firmly set the parking brake, let off the service brake pedal so the drivetrain can unload and the parking brake takes the weight, and then shift straight to P fast enough that it won't engage reverse. That way the transmission won't be holding the weight of the truck and the shifter will come out of park easily, no longer flying past R at warp speed.

Plus it's safer that way. No one wants to be Anton Yelchin'ed by relying on the parking pawl.

Mine did that too. But exactly what @Squatting Pigeon said, it stopped after awhile. I think I just got used to it.

Thanks for the replies everybody. I already unload the tranny when parking, and it does help. However does anyone know if an adjustment could be made, either at the column or at the tranny?

Off topic but which Tundras came or come with a column shifter. I thought they'd all been console shifters for years now.

You can still get a front bench seat configuration that has column shift

No, I don't know of any way to adjust it. I just got used to it and it eventually wasnt an issue.

This, so much. This is how I was taught as a teenager to park vehicles, old man was a semi driver and said that parking brakes are cheaper than transmissions, so why let the transmission hold the weight.

Later in life when I obtained a commercial license myself, I learned that this is standard practice in the commercial world.

^This! I got my 2019 SR DC specifically with the column shifter and bench seat...the way trucks were meant to be!
