    Hey All,

Wondering who here has the Toytec 3" spacer kit on their rigs? After weeks of researching (and apparently still not enough), I pulled the trigger on this kit with the rear shackles (focusing on budget and hoping to install myself).

After I received the kit, I decided to read the install instructions. I assumed (I hate that word) that this would be a fairly basic install, meaning no removal of the springs... Not the case apparently, unless I misread them...

If you do have this kit on your rig, did you do the install yourself? Or have a shop do it? If you did it yourself, enlighten me about your experience please :monocle:

I'm not new to wrenching on my vehicles, however, I do not care to use spring compressors...

    Any advice is appreciated!

Neighbor did a spacer lift on his Chevy. He just loosened bolts on the bottom and removed the nuts on the top. Probably took longer to jack it up and remove the wheel than it did to install spacer. Google it. I am sure there are plenty of goofballs that videos it.

That's exactly what I thought I was getting into as well, but again, the instructions seem to say otherwise...

Definitely going to be doing some more digging... I was just planing on installing this weekend, now knowing I may need a spring compressor, might not happen...

Is this the set that you bought? Yep, you need a spring compressor.

You brought the wrong kit, this one preload the springs. You want the one bolt over the top.

You are correct... Lesson learned I guess... Stuck with it now, not going to deal with shipping back.

I went the route you went with on my first generation Tundra...and I regretted it each time I drove it. The preload made it way too springy. Never again.

Better return it, all factory spring is progressive spring. What that mean is, as it compressed, the spring rate increase. If you preloaded your factory, it make the ride stiffer and more bouncy, it also destroy you shock faster.

Nope, that would have been nice... I emailed questioning the preload and ride, we'll see what they say...

    Hello and good afternoon Devin,

I have received and replied to your email, but just seen this post too so I'd figure I'd post here too so we can clear it up at bit.

Our spacer kits are in fact a internal coil spring spacer, which is one of the safer ways to go about having a spacer kit. The ride quality will stiffen overall yes, but not as you might think overall, it will help with the nose dive and the body roll that the Tundras have. @csuviper ran our spacer kit on his 2019 Tundra.

If you are looking at the Bilstein 5100 series shock option (as you stated in your email) it will do the same thing as our spacers will (preload the spring to give lift). The Bilstein shocks will only be adjustable to the 2.25'' of front end lift overall, which will not equal out to the 3'' of front end lift that is desired.

What do you mean we should of questioned the order? What would we question? He ordered a Tundra kit for his Tundra

Here is good little write up that @csuviper did for all the people doing research on lift kits for reference.

Ok thanks for the clarification Dave. I'll chat with you over email rather than here!
