Shoot, my '16 is worth what I paid for it...

I was underwater on my '08 for about 2 years, but I held on to it, and when I traded it in for my '16, I got 50% of the purchase price. Worth the wait.

I'm waiting for the hybrid, and will buy out my '16 when the lease is up this year. My wife has had 2 generations of the RAV4 hybrid, and it is better in every way than the non-hybrid. I just picked up a Tesla Model 3 to tide me over until the Next-gen comes out. It's basically a free car- my monthly costs for my commute are the same as I was paying for gas, and I get to drive the Tundra only when I need a truck. Best of both worlds. Hopefully the Tundra hybrid has a plug-in option. Or better yet, also a power out option for using it as a generator.

My first year Taco had every problem you have heard about. I might trade for a second year 2022 if they prove to be reliable and have good drivability. The 2016 taco was annoying to drive. Like they took all drivability away to try to get better gas millage.
