    I have a 2000 4.7L double cab and Love It !!!!
    I’m wondering
    1. Is the 4.7L engine the same in 2wd & 4x4?
    2. Can a auto transmission from a 4x4 fit in a 2wd by switching the tail shaft/housing?
    3. Are most 2000 to 2006 parts interchangeable?

It's the same motor until 05.

The trans has a different part number for 2wd/4wd and differs from 00-02, 03-04, 05-06.

Most parts are interchangeable, but 05-06 saw bigger changes. Best bet is to stay in your model range which would be 00-02. If your trans craps out you can get one out of an 03-04 which has a stronger planetary gear.
