Hey guys love the xm topic! 2019 crew max bought in march.. xm trial runs out 6/27/19 i took out head unit unplugged antenna and will keep fingers crossed i miss the kill signal! Dont plan on hooking it back up for a year or so, since i have a external xm head unit which was in my fathers car unplugged since 08.. i read a few forums with stories of people buying used head units at thrift shops that actually have service on them but not sure if it was from not receiving the kill signal or if the donor had a lifetime subscription, i know the one out of my fathers car was disconnected and shoved in glove box before he canceled his subscription confirming kill signal was never received and you guessed it!.. same subscription as he had before with sturn and all the other goodies still live and running! be aware of the ebay seller ive heard they have guys selling false lifetime subscriptions, which they prepaid them sell it to you for a ass load of money and label (POSSIBLE) lifetime and you lose out because they dont except returns.

Just thought id put my 2 cents in i like this topic keep it rolling!

I got an offer in the mail the other day. $5 a month for 12 months. No streaming included.
If they included streaming, I'd sign up the wife's car.

That will not work any more, I know what you are talking about, My first "Sirius" Sportster 2006-07 still works. The newer Sirius-XM equipment is completely different. Anything the last few years since all new equipment went to the "XM" signal will update it's self and turn off.

I've had the same deal the last 2 years on 2 vehicles. I just call them a week before it ends to either cancel or get a new rate. That price is for the select plan, has all the stations I like.

Never ever pay full price for XM. They try to trick you with a free trial then an auto renew at full price. Just call before the renewal and tell them you want to cancel. They will offer the moon for you to stay.

I should add. You need to do this every time your subscription is about to renew. It will always renew at full price unless you call and ask to cancel. Its a dance I play every 12 months.

Put a pre-paid credit card on the account with just enough to pay a year's worth at the $5 per month. When they try to zap you for $150, it gets denied. Wait until your radio goes out, call them, haggle to the $5 per month price, let them charge the pre-paid card.
It's pretty simple to get what you want from them. Just takes a five minute phone call every 13 or 14 months, depending on when they shut off your radio.

I don't even bother with a prepaid card. When I call to renew I have them send a paper bill and actually mail them an old fashioned check. One of the very few checks I actually write nowadays.

You can do CC just do not agree to auto renewal. Tell them it is one time only.

Keep telling them you still want to cancel. They will give it to you for 12 months. You just didn't say cancel enough to get to that part of the cancel script. I swear I can hear them turning the page of their instruction manual every time I say "No I still want to cancel".

I got 6 months at the cheap rate for my one car the last time, but a year for the other one I renewed before. Difference was I actually cancelled on my Challenger last year and waited a week for them to reach out to me. On my truck I didn't want to cancel because we were going on a road trip right around when my service was up and I didn't want it interrupted. So I only managed to talk them into 6 months.

I pay for it on my 2 cars, my wife pays for it on her Acura. We both get good deals when we call but their multiple radio packages aren't really that big of a money saver, which is annoying.
