Yup pretty much once the boots are torn unless you catch them right away you're on borrowed time.

 

Napa control arms or oem. Half the price for Napa... they look good, anyone got experience with them? My driver side one is bent.

In other news, I replaced the Chinese carrier bearing with an OEM Spicer unit in hopes of it fixing my shudder, but no luck. I’m about out of ideas as to what could cause it. Now I’m thinking diff.

 

when are you getting shudder? could be drive line angle. i see this alot at work with worn leaf springs

 

Body shop do that?

 

No it’s been an issue. I’m contacting the spindle on hard turns and the sway bar end link is twisted up. Just didn’t get around to replacing it before the body work.


Hoping to hell the spindle is good. We shall find out then I have to fix the growling wheel bearing

oh yea for sure. when it landed it landed on the driver side front the hardest. i was picking dirt and shit out of it for a while. tore the axle up, bent that wheel.. she took a damn hard hit. (yet the balljoint is still solid, replacing both when i do the struts and control arms)

 

20-25MPH and 10-15MPH. I’m lifted 2” in the rear.

Also, intermittently between 60-65, and above 72.

 

I could only watch a little, but I saw that the whole spindle piece needs to come out to get the bearings out. Where does it go from there?

 

No pictures, but I finished my dual battery setup to run my fridge.

1) Blue Seas ACR
2) Duracell Group 31 Deep Cycle
3) Lots of 0 gage cable runs

Battery is mounted in the bed of the truck, seems like a decent place. I didn't want to mess with trying to squeeze it in the engine bay. The fridge will be hard mounted inside the cab behind the passenger seat. I removed the rear bench seat and built a simple plywood platform to maximize horizontal space.

 

I might need to pick your brain when I attempt the same in the near future.

I replaced the PCV valve last evening. Old one was crusty but seemed to be functioning properly.

 

Nice. When did they switch to the threaded valve? And welcome. I’m pretty new around here myself.

 

Sounds like drive like angle, try some shims for the carrier bearing.

 

They’re a bitch to press out. Most people take the spindle to a machine shop or a automotive shop. Old hub gets pressed out, remove snap ring, press old bearing out. Then reverse order

 

Last weekend I replaced the old JBL speakers in the rear doors with some Infinity Kappas. Already had the Kappa components in the front doors. They work well with the factory HU since they are rated for 2 ohm.

How much should I shim? I actually tried that when I had the Chinese carrier bearing in there, but I probably did it wrong.

 

I think they make shim kits for what height lift you have. You can always try washers though I guess

well, I think I may have figured out what is causing my shuddering. One of my rear lift blocks is installed backwards, small end towards the rear.

that would also explain why my rear is out of alignment.

I’ve owned the truck for a couple of months now and finally finished changing all the fluids. Did power steering and coolant today. A small milestone...

 

...but not an insignificant one.
