You did a great job with this. Thanks for posting detailed pics, including the holes drilled in to hold the hooks, and the gauge of bracket that bent.

Thanks Sunny! I knew you’d appreciate the details!
I didn’t know I could get bigger gauge brackets, just eyed one I thought would do the job, so I will be heading back to Ace!

Yeah, I think so. If not at Ace, ask there, and they’ll probably direct you to a local supply. Looks great though; you did well!

Awesome setup. Thanks for the lift idea. Hauling dirtbikes and having an RTT doesnt work too well. This lift would be a great help. Thank you!

    Update:

Do-over on the recent RTT lift project; it has now turned into a dolly / lift project, thanks again to the idea from Jeff @DividedSky !!

Now using heavy-duty shelf bracket from Home Depot, load capacity is 600lbs.

    E4E26064-1250-4F81-B73B-D4813CBCF07B.jpg

Heavy-duty mover’s dolly from Harbor Freight, load capacity of 1,000lbs.
I place the brackets along the edge but sorta in the middle of the bottom horizontal length. Also I am now using an eye bolt for the pulley to attach to.

    40C14388-4F07-4D61-B68D-D36242156480.jpg

    81DB2EAD-4898-4030-899B-D8EDB90E61E9.jpg

I used a cut piece of wood to hold up the long piece being used as a railing, at first up the ground and inch...

    D5AD2099-84CC-4605-9A82-FA242E2E6A5A.jpg

...end up propping the rail up higher.

    AF5AB6E5-8FD2-4033-A3CD-426A65CB3D43.jpg

You will notice the carpeted area has a gap of an inch; later I will use another cut piece of wood in this center gap area, that way I can utilize the end hole of the bracket and screwing it all together, providing more stability and strength.

    410B1271-4D6D-4781-BE03-C59066D18EE3.jpg

I decided to use a 5-inch corner bracket for more support, after finding the rails were wanting to move side to side, left and right in the following pic.
The HD shelf bracket with the corner L-bracket gives so much more stability!

    1EE58436-3498-4838-9FCC-83423879D42F.jpg

Finished piece with bracing up along the rail. Attaching this way, instead of a shorter piece in the middle, feels more stable.

    0D549C10-B798-44E2-AAB3-486650350AC5.jpg

Cut piece of 1-inch piece of wood in between carpeted ends and under the end hole of HD shelf, screwed in providing strength and stability!

    376D346A-922B-4C63-9778-21B9EF22151E.jpg

Pulley attached, ready to go on bed rack.
At this point I have not cut the length of the side rails, still at 8 foot. First go around I cut too much and thought I’d try full length to get the RTT slid on the rack better. Only downfall is getting entire piece rolled and stored in garage: I can get it in on an angle to clear garage door and some rafters.

    A31BACA4-FDE3-45AE-AA78-5C353E9EFA19.jpg

I did not load it on but I can tell the difference from the first attempt; this design being more stable and functions so much better!

    016C0D01-2D88-4576-8574-B9BE448B9740.jpg

Thanks Jeff for the idea, and also motivation on coming up with some improvements!
Feel free to copy or ask questions!!
