Check out "Toyota Tundra-tesla unit" Facebook group. From my understanding the unit is the same visually as the second gen units, but it has the px6 board. People are saying that they do not notice it being "slow boot". Some people think that the manufacturer will have fast boot in a update.

The description is coy and there's no pic. Could be software they add, or factory installed hardware enabling CarPlay from the HU's dongle receiver (it does not say wireless). Must be bought in conjunction with the PX6 unit.

The PX6 unit has a faster processor, is running 4GB RAM, and Android 8.1. I'm not sure all the software kinks are worked out like the 2nd gen PX3 units most of us have.

Got my 3rd gen unit in today. Here is my current issue list.

Time shows 0:xx instead of 12:xx at Noon Time

    No RPM, speed, TPMS data.

Cooled seat setting is forgot when turning off the truck. It shows as off even though it's on high (3) and working fine. Press the button and it changes to 2 setting and then shows its on.

Not sure on 2014, but most have to be set as Tundra Hi for the higher end features to work. Specifically dual air. And you have a1794 edition.

GPS does work with an adapter. The maps are whatever map app you want to run like Google maps, Waze, etc.

I just got a PX3 unit in a trade and I'm having trouble getting the climate control tonworknon the unit. Does anyone have a picture of their wiring harness for this. Or does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can the climate control working. The rest of the unit seems amazing.

Anyone have any pictures of these units running Carplay? I was researching new HUs with Carplay and it sounds like it's supported, but it sounds like everyone uses the standard OS or Android Auto. Is Carplay on the top part of the screen and what's on the bottom?

You will have to dig into this thread and should find something addressing your wiring. Also you can check with the facebook group also.

In 'system info' there is an area where you pick your truck type. Of course pick Tundra, but you will need to select Tundra Hi or Tundra Lo. If you have standard air (not dual) select Tundra Lo, make sure it is set to Chinese version and the Protocol should be BNR w/Air. If it currently set for BNR w/Air and everything else is set right, change protocol to Default, reboot, and change back to BNR w/Air then reboot again. Hopefully that will get you going. Must be set to Chinese. Sounds stupid, but that is the case.

I finally saw a video where they showed CarPlay on the Tesla unit. Couldn't tell the quality of it, just that it worked. I'm assuming that you're able to get the updates to CarPlay (like with IOS13) as they come out from Apple for your and not have to wait for a unit upgrade or replace the dongle.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJzXNPB6mzA

I also saw somewhere (looking for it) that for 25.00 extra you could specify CarPlay and they installed it on the unit (no dongle), maybe that was the other manu.

They still don't show if it is just mirroring the iPhone or if you can use the Tesla screen to control iPhone via Carplay. Thanks for sharing the video

Actually if you look at the video at about 2:02, look close, it shows the phone in the CarPlay mode (icon on the screen) with CarPlay on the tesla screen.

Has anyone put this into a sr5 with the sr5 upgrade package? I don't have navigation on the current stock head unit but didn't know if the factory GPS antenna was dangling in there unused, like a bunch of other features on the truck like auto headlights and glass break sensor and etc

I see that but I am wondering if it is just mirroring or if you can touch the Tesla screen to control the iPhone. I have a feeling it is just a mirror. If you want to bring up maps you have to actually pickup the phone, but not sure.

My Entune had nav and I just bought adapters to use the factory antenna. My new Android Tesla style I bought came with a GPS antenna that plugged right up to the tesla unit. What most people do on a retrofit is they pull the center dash speaker grill off and run the wire (really easily accessible) out the front of where the speaker grill is against the windshield and then pop the speaker grill back in. So antenna is right there in the center of the windshieled and the wire disappears into the dash. Loos good and you only have ti fish the wire less than a foot. The fishing can be done with your hands. No coat hangers necessary.

Or. .... you could just buy the adapter and connect it to your factory GPS antenna.

His truck didn't have Nav and he said he didn't know if it might be dangling as a loose wire. If it has one it will b in the center of the speaker grill on newer trucks

It's real CarPlay, touch control on the HU screen, there are vids on fb demonstrating it by Tundra owners. And if you are jailbroken, you can install CarBridge and it'll open any app.

I was in Costco today playing with an A12 iPad Pro, the UI is lightning fast. Comparatively my truck's PX3 Android HU feels like an iPad3 so I never bothered getting a dongle. CarPlay on it will lag the same if not worse and I just don't have the need to interact with my iPhone when driving. The Android HU is already doing enough of what I want out of it, and I really like it, even if it lags a bit.

From what I understand all our trucks have a GPS antenna. I don't have factory Nav and the wire was back there behind the stock HU easily accessible and capped.

Was the external portion sticking out of the center of the speaker grill? Big bump right in the middle of it.

No, it was just back there with the harnesses that plug into the stock HU, I didn't need to dig, although I can't say it's like that for every year. This wire:

    Screen_Shot_2019-08-02_at_11_58_21_PM.jpg

Unless you mean the other end leading into the pillar, I didn't look to see where that tunnelled.
