Hello, did a search and couldn't find an answer. Hoping someone out there can answer. Currently have a 08 Tundra SR5 with stock alloy wheels. Looking to purchase a 19 Tundra SR5 which has steel rims/wheels. Dealership said the 08 alloy wheels can't go on the 19 due to the TPMS being different and that switching the TPMS to the newer ones won't work. Interesting thing is that the same design alloy wheels are on some of the 19 year models. Question is, dealership correct or can I change the TPMS on the 08 alloys?

Steel wheels and alloy wheels have a different sensor. 2nd and 3rd Gen are interchangeable if they are the same wheel.

Wait, I misunderstood you. Are you saying you want to put your 08 alloy wheels on your 19 that has steels?

The 2018+ models use a different sensor so the center display can display actual PSI vs just the low pressure warning light in the pre-2018 models. Steel and alloy wheels also use different angled sensors, but most tire shops can make them work interchangeably, so you should be able to take your 2019 sensors and put them in your 2008 wheels if that's what you're wanting to do. They "technically" don't fit, but if the tire shop flips them around it should work.

The issue is steel vs. alloy, and 2008 vs 2019.

Also, in 2018 the sensor for both steel and alloy changed. You will not find an aftermarket shop that can program the 2018+ sensors.

So, in order for you to put alloy wheels on your 2019, you will need (4) 42607-0C091 along with install kits. You will then need to have a Toyota dealer reprogram the TPMS, or buy a Techstream setup for ~$40.

See my thread documenting the process.
