I installed the Fortin plug and play remote start this weekend and am very happy with it. I just have one small problem... When I hit the lock button 3 times on the OEM key fob, it starts the truck like it should, but it also makes the alarm go off. Does anyone have any idea what I did wrong or if I missed a step? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Had this issue on my Tacoma...ended up having to re-program it where it Unlocks the truck, starts and then locks the truck...probably same on the Tundra

PS. Did you have to splice into the TPMS wire?

This is correct. There is an option when flashing the unit if you have an oem alarm. Mine is set to yes so it unlocks, starts then locks the truck.

Yes, I had to splice into the TPMS wire. How do I go about re-programming the remote start module?

Do you think I will have to return the remote start module since it was pre-programmed?

If you don’t want to buy the flasher and do it yourself then you have to send it in.

Sorry, I am new to all of this...
Where do I purchase a flasher and how hard is it to do myself?

If I remember right, I had to splice a wire for the alarm bypass in addition to the TPMS. I bought the Plug and Play from tech12volts.com.

Thanks for the info, I believe mine is about the same as the one from 12 volt solutions.
Hopefully that’s all it is, just one more wire to splice

I have the Fortin unit from 12volt.solutions. There is a programming step where you need to do an ignition/button press combination to get everything to activate with the truck. Did you do anything like that during install?

I did something where I plugged in the biggest plug to the module and held the program button down at the same time. Then I hit the program button ten times. But I don’t remember doing anything with the program button and the ignition

Ok, maybe that was the process I was thinking of... I'd need to go look at the instructions and video I used for my install.

    Thanks for the video link.
    I ordered it from EBay.
    The seller was “WarmCarNow”

Looks like the 12volt.solutions video should apply for you. I searched "WarmCarNow" on here and there are a bunch of threads, so one of those might have more info for your if you're still stuck. Also, there is a note on the eBay listing: *****PLEASE NOTE 1 ADDITIONAL CONNECTION REQUIRED IF VEHICLE HAS A OEM ALARM. Not sure what that additional connection is, but seems like it may be relevant to your issue...?

Thanks for all your help. I did send an email yesterday to WarmCarNow, asking what the additional connection is, waiting to hear back from them. I think the video you sent is the same one I used.
I re-watched it and I completed all the steps on there. So I’m betting it has something to do with this: *****PLEASE NOTE 1 ADDITIONAL CONNECTION REQUIRED IF VEHICLE HAS A OEM ALARM.

The guy I bought it from was real cool and helpful. He sent me his flasher and I installed the program on my laptop and he walked me through to program it and then sent the flasher back to him.

I'm trying to decide for my Tundra if I should go with 12Volt (supposedly 100% plug and play) for $350 or get something like yours but then I would have to splice. I'm not good with splicing lol

I’m not good at splicing either, but this was real easy, even for me

I guess I over-looked a step, this is the response I got from the seller on EBay:

There is a technical support number on the unit.
There is an orange wire that is banded that says connect if vehicle has an alarm. The orange wire that is labeled connect if vehicle has an alarm will connect to the red posi tap that is pre-installed on the BCM plug of the T harness
If you have additional questions please text the number affixed to the unit request a support call back the number is 518-441-7384.

I might go this route again then! Did it once so I should be more confident in it. Let me know how you fixed your problem as I've seen a few post about the same issue as well.

    Thank!

It did work. There was a loose orange wire coming off the module that I failed to connect to the BCM plug of the T harness
