2008 Tundra

I just upgraded my 2008 Tundra wheels with 2019 Tundra wheels...wanted to know if the new tpsm sensors from 2019 Tundra wheels would relearn on 2008 Tundra computer..Any help would greatly be appreciated.

I think they must be set up with Techstream. IIRC they have unique id numbers....

 

I want to avoid going to dealership for this.

 

I took my truck to big tire shop and they were trying to sell me 4 new tpms sensors.

 

Welcome to the club, awesome truck. Those wheels look great. For TPMS, would a larger tire chain be able to reprogram? Les Schwab or somewhere that might do this often?

 

If I'm not mistaken the TPMS sensors changed part numbers starting in 2018.

 

So in the ECU unit are you able to change part numbers for relearn process?

Wheels whether 2017 or 2018 are the same, the only thing that changed is what you mentioned in your first post, that 2018+ use a 7 digit TPMS and frequency is different, 2017 and earlier use 8 digit TPMS.


So I'm guessing techstream would be looking for a 8 digit ID and your 18+ sensors only have a 7 digit ID

 

So would it be possible if i just add one digit on techstream to make it go through the relearn process?

 

Still no luck..I have taken my truck to multiple big tire shops and toyota dealerships and they all told me I have to either switch to the old tpms sensors or buy new aftermarket ones in order to have it to communicate with my truck's system.

 

Well since no one could figure it out. I just put my old 2008 tpms sensors back on the new wheels and that fixed the problem. No more tpms light on dash. I would think someone at toyota dealership could of figure this one out. But i guess not.
