I have a Bowtech Equalizer that I bought way back in 2006. I shot it alot until probably 2010 and then have barely shot it since. It's been stored in a case and I shoot maybe a dozen arrows a year. Should I be thinking about replacing my bow string?

I would say yes unless you kept them good and waxed but even then they start to flatten out over the cams from the tension. Little over $100 could save the bow from blowing up or injuring you...
I still have my bowtech 82nd airborne keeping it as a backup bow. I now shoot a hoyt rx-1 turbo.

I put wax on the string at least once a year. I'll have to double check the string on the cams. I didn't think of them flatting out there.

I've been out of the game for awhile, but I think if I was to buy a new bow I'd be looking very closely at Hoyt. They seem to make really good bows from what I hear.

Like Grizz said, better to be safe than sorry. Just changed the string on mine this past season just for that reason.

I'd replace. While it also depends on how many shots you've put it through and how it was stored (inside cool dry place or in a hot garage), that's a long time on same strings. Would hate to read that someone got hurt.

It's been stored in a case in the basement. Pretty friendly environment and the string looks pretty much new. Replacing it is definitely on the must do list once I get back to work and my paychecks start again.
