Dome Fuse Blowing

hey all,

I recently had an issue where my audio amplifier (after market) power wire had a broken fuse block. The power cable grounded out to the brake booster and smoke went everywhere and the truck died. (Side note: The aftermarket alarm, amplifiers and head unit were all installed by a previous owner and not installed very well.)

I turned it off quickly, and disconnected the positive cable.

Luckily... the truck started right back up. Only now, i keep blowing my dome fuse. The only result i can see is that my dome lights and turn signals don’t work.

I’ve metered the dome fuse socket and i have continuity to my battery ground. So I’m sure there’s a short.

Any advice for trouble shooting would be helpful.

I’m trying to trace the dome wire and check out the path to look for bare wire that is grounding out. I’ve read the electric diagram manual but i can’t find color codes or a path for the dome wire.

 

I’m assuming the dome circuit received more damage since it’s got constant 12v and turning the ignition off wouldn’t have affected the short.

 

I would look behind the dash if it is that bad it could even be something behind the radio

 

Ok thanks. The radio actually still works. So the power there is good. I did pull it yesterday and it looked fine.
