    Ha, indeed, fair enough.

Check out the body roll on this car....and yet since its a dirt track racer its suspension is set up to keep the tires on the ground for traction rather than counter body roll.

It's also set up for left turns... that fucker will flip if you throw it into a right turn.

I am fine with how my truck handles empty but was considering a rear swaybar and air bags to stiffen the rear and help carry my 5,500 pound 5th wheel trailer. I installed the Firestone air bags and plumbed the air lines separately. By not teeing the air lines the air doesn't transfer from bag to bag in cornering. This stiffened the rear enough that I feel a swaybar isn't needed.

Now that is an interesting idea. I JUST...like a couple hours ago....put some Air Lift brand airbags on my truck. I have not yet plumbed the airbags as I was wondering if I should connect them or leave separate. Until you mentioned this I couldn't think of any reason not to connect them.

A little of topic but I see some members trd rear sway bars are in different heights relative the rear diff. For example my factory stock trd bar is just below the diff . The pic on this thread the bar is way up on the diff. Does this effect what the sway bars function ?

I have the sway bar and air bags airbags won't help on turns but huge improvement in ride quality with trailer. Sway bar for turns also tightened up when changing lanes and trucks passing.

No problem with snow and ice with the powder coated TRD bar.

Anything that stiffens the suspension reduces grip.

However, its likely on flat ice that the tires will loose grip and slide before body roll can 'activate' the sway bars enough to make any difference.

Where you will really notice it, and why I take sway bars off my cars, is on uneven, slick surfaces, like an icy rutted, road, where each tire may be at a different height. The sway bar will lift up the wheel opposite to the high side, lowering traction on that wheel which is already low in traction and with an open differential that can mean that this wheel just spins freely. Even with 4WD you can end up diagonally on a ridge so that one wheel on each axle is unloaded and spinning freely, keeping you from going anywhere.

But like I said, if you primarily drive on flat, paved roads you probably will notice no additional loss of traction from a rear sway bar on ice.

Really, the decision depends entirely on what kind of driving you do. Sway bars hurt rough road performance, and improve smooth roads handling.

You just have to ask yourself, "Do I wish my truck handled better off road? Or do I wish it handled better ON road?"

Do you want driving it to be like pushing a shopping car, or a wheelbarrow?

Without the rear sway bar, it feels like the rear of my truck is not connected to the front... it didn't track well at all, and the rear always feels like it wants to go off in a different direction. With the rear bar installed it's like driving my old '71 GTO, the front and rear track in perfect unison.

Earlier I posted I was fine with just Firestone airbags and I was but.... the 40% off sale "forced" me to buy the rear sway bar.IMG_2404.jpg
